Dual Boot or Triple Boot?
Dual Boot or Triple Boot?
Hi,
Always willing to do some alpha or beta testing I followed the steps here: http://dev.openaos.org/wiki/SettingUpMultiRootGen7.
Because of the content of the downloaded menu.lst file:
Android|ANDROID|ANDROID|ANDROID
openAOS Froyo alpha|/dev/sda1|/rootfsfroyo.img|/init
Angstrom|/dev/sda1|/rootfs.img|/sbin/init
I expected to see three entries in the Boot menu, but see only the first two, Angstrom is not among them.
Is this to be expected behaviour or did I make a mistake somewhere?
=> Ok, fixed, had to put an LF at the end of the Angstrom entry. LF = a UNIX type line feed a.k.a carriage return

PS Both Archos Android and Froyo boot fine.

Re: Dual Boot or Triple Boot?
Hi!
I had installed it today.
I think they changed it a bit now,
so if you do it right Angstrom should be there ,too.
So have fun

Make sure not to change the file in any way under windows. Or if you edit it use an editor capable of proper unix line endings. Most menu problems are caused by this.

Re: Dual Boot or Triple Boot?
I always use Notepad++ as editor on Windows, that usually seems to do ok with UNIX type line terminators.dm8tbr wrote:Make sure not to change the file in any way under windows. Or if you edit it use an editor capable of proper unix line endings. Most menu problems are caused by this.
But to be on the safe side I┬┤ll redo things on one of my Linux boxes.

Would you be kind enough to edit your first post to show what change you made to the Angstrom entry? Thank you very much.jedeje wrote:Ok, fixed, had to put an LF at the end of the Angstrom entry.

Re: Dual Boot or Triple Boot?
Thank you. I was not really sure what you meant by LF.

LF = linefeed = add an empty line after the last line with textzandoli wrote:Thank you. I was not really sure what you meant by LF.

Re: Dual Boot or Triple Boot?
Thanks guys.
I want everything to be very clear when I decide to take this plunge.
I have already rooted my A5A and should be taking the triple boot route soon. ;)
