Our own TV Guide service?

Post by lespaul2510 »

All right, since Archos has seemingly abandoned us and their TV Guide service (what else is new), could we possibly make our own TV guide program using free services such as titantv.com. I know it sounds far-fetched and I lack the skills to do it, but I'm just throwing an idea out there.

I found a list of several TV Guide providers: http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/on ... mpared.php

This one looks promising as it has a "record to Tivo" feature: http://www.zap2it.com/tv/

i posted a little bit about this before, but if we want a tvguide service to actually interact with the archos recorder some reverse engineering is going to need to be done. if anyone still has information in their tvguide it would be easier(possible) to figure out the file format and interact with it, but as it stands, nobody has had a file for example so it would probably be more difficult

it may be possible to rig up something from a hacked archos to at least add recording events, maybe from a daemon or script running in the background or something, however only parts of the relevant files and corresponding functions are easily interpreted(i am not a low level programmer... still a student) and as far as i know most of the hackers/developers are not interested? (please speak up! could use any good advice)
