nop, some experts are trying to reverse-engineer the update process and with luck this may lead to something, but, for now you can't.

i think ecsw knows something but isnt ready to release yet. still milkin that cash cow.

maybe pm him and ask if he thinks there will be a public release?

also, archilles has indicated he will continue to look for >1.7.13 exploits, but he also has interest and has spent time hacking the newer generations

I thought he also said his third hack will be to free all flash-locked devices. Wouldn't that be anything past 1.7.13?

I composed full audit report from GFI LANguard

http://massmirror.com/8122fad062dadf210 ... 604d1.html

Maybe it will help us?
There is a serious vulnerability in the pop3 server.

cool, now all we have to do is to implement a pop3 server for the 605 ;-)

dees anybody know exploit of jpg, avi, mp3 , pdf files ?
the archos is normally a linux system and have backdoor for sure. but i think as the archilles exploit , it's possible to hack it by this other way.

i think that a buffer overflow can do that ?

The Wii uses a maflormed banner to cause a crash and run a file. The Bannerbomb exploit, which then can be used to install the Homebrew Channel. You're thinking of something like this?

Taken from Wiibrew.org:

Code: Select all

The exploit works by using a malformed banner to crash the Wii and run code to load the boot.dol placed in the root of the SD card. It can be used to install the Homebrew Channel, DVDx and the BootMii public beta via the HackMii Installer.
So if a buffer overflow would even work in a similar manner, there would need to be some code that the 605 can run that could access the locked down portion of the flash memory. Don't think that is possible, but it might be possible to unlock plugins or something like a one-time softmod.

Unless I'm wrong.

We can get recovery mode ( similar http://archos.g3nius.org/index.php?titl ... 5_firmware )
First, boot your device into recovery mode:

* Power down your device: press the Power button until you see the Shutting Down... message appear on the screen.
* Power up in recovery mode: press Power+Volume Up and hold them until the recovery screen appear.
* Select Repair Disk mode: press Volume Down and then Power to select.
* Connect the USB cable to a computer.
But instead of Power button use TV/LCD.

and then by analogy ...

But I do not quite understand the whole process. Can someone help?

does anybody has try a bufferoverflow method on files that archos can read.
i remember few month ago , i have a pdf file that rebooting my archos 405 when i open it...
i think it possible to use a proof concept ?

if the system use the mpg123 for decoding mp3 files perhaps a hole exist on this software , but we don't know the version and linux distribution used on the archos firmware 2.1.04.

- only need is the plugins and the possibility to listen ogg vorbis and flac audio files 8)

Archille, do you have an idea ?
