Reports from first US users?

Post by tstreete »

As of today, the 80 gig TV+ is listed as in stock on US Amazon for $229 shipped (via Ritz camera).

So: any reports from first users? How's it work as a DVR? Is the channel guide working for US cable systems? Is the hard drive accessible from a PC on a home network? Are the DVR-recorded files copy protected? Any other first reactions?

Archos seriously need to start providing better information on their website to answer such questions. Otherwise people will be put off buying it for want of information. Simply saying it has a TV Program Guide and can record "from most any video sources" is not enough!

I guess we need someone to actually buy one in the US and post their experiences here before we'll know such stuff.

I'm holding off purchase from online because I may need to return for just those reasons. Much easier to take it back to WalMart than Amazon.
