I just wrote a text file using notepad and copied this to my 605. I clicked on it and it was opened by Opera.

I have the plug-in though so I guess someone without the plugin would need to try it.

It may be easier on the eyes but it won't make the slightest bit of difference to the power (in fact it will actually use slightly more).

The LCD layer in the screen does not generate light. Instead, when a cell is energised it becomes opaque, blocking light from passing through. The light is generated by a backlight, behind the LCD layer that produces a white, constantly on, light.

When the screen is black, the backlight is still on and the LCD panel is drawing maximum power in order to keep all the cells 'closed', therefore using slightly more power than a fully white screen.
