I hope they dont release a new firmware upgrade because of this.

Already tried. No can do. They locked the lba down. If one digit is off the tablets wont boot. Although there MIGHT be a way. There is a funny little error when I try to mess with the LBA. It gives me the 108 recovery code for a second or two and then goes back to 109. If I can figure out whats happening there I might be able to do it. But right now they seem to have done their job pretty well.ecsw wrote:you did it.now time to try out on Archos 5/7.
Wrote my own piece of code to use with a pc3000. I was so paranoid when I first used it. You wouldnt believe the sounds a hard drive can make when you screw with its firmware. But hey, whats 4 drives fried when you finally achieve something like thisdustindunst wrote:How did you do it?

Great work! I dont see how they could stop this in a firmware update if people only go up to 160gb which is cool. If they did release one it would have to provide benefits over the current firmware which would also be cool.Junior wrote:After months of research, a few fried drives, I finally managed to upgrade!!!

Well, they can release a feature which only works half assed to get people to update. Once they update they cant go back and who cares if it works or not because they already upgraded. Thats what did right after GFT exploit came out. I dont think they will care though. They dont even make the 605 anymore. Now if I could upgrade they new tablets they might do something. But no luck there so far. The most I have done is a basic swap. I think there might be a way but it will involve writing code I know absolutely nothing about.Deejay300 wrote:Great work! Im in the states and yeah I got stuff selling on ebay. I already shipped a couple to the uk this week. Hmm. Looks like the exchange rate is in your favor again. I should raise the prices for you guysDeejay300 wrote:Junior,

Junior wrote:Just do a search for " archos hard drive replacement " on ebay.
Then your firmware is already imbeded in the archos internal memory. Changing a hard drive or even formating will not delete them. But in case they did all you would need to do is download the plugins you already have and they will work just fine. No need to purchase them again. And if you should need to transfer the hard drive to another Archos in the future you can send it back and I can reprogram it at no extra charge. You just pay for shipping.smegs wrote:Junior,
The Firmware is 2.1.04 on 605(160gb).
The Plug-in's are: Cinema,Video Podcast, Web Browser, RealVideo, Web TV & Radio.
Thanks.
