Wild Idea, but I need help

I've got a 604 wifi, it's a few years old. It's been sitting on my computer desk more lately than I've been using it; however, I've got an idea to put it back in use, but I'm stuck.

I'm wanting to utilize the 604 in it's media docking station, hooked up to external speakers, to play from a music library I have stored on my home-network server. I've got the wifi hooked up to the network (no brainer), but the media player on the 604 only looks on the device, not over the network (I don't want to transfer the files across the network to the device then play). Anyone got ideas to get around that? I've tried an Openware application that lets me access my music lib over the internet by making a "localhost" address, but the Opera browser doesn't recognize this.

Any help would be appreciated.

For playing media (compatible video or audio) over the home network, here is what I did:

1 set up shared folder(s) in your pc for the media you want to acess
2 have your PC login/password info handy in case prompted
3 Connect archos to wifi network
4 from home screen click Files --> Network --> Workgroup --> Computer Name --> Shared Folder name

Then click the file (that resides on the PC hard drive) that you want to play.

Glad I could help. You can also copy files back and forth, over the wifi, but it is very slow. It is better and faster to use direct cable for copying.
