Now that I have a Archos 5 IT with Android, my 604wifi doesn't get much use, but it served loyally and reliable for years. In my opinion it was the best portable media player of it's day and still one of the better still in use.

For the price (I paid about $250 for the 30gb ver.), I don't think there was any player for retail sale in the U.S. that could do what the 604 could- RELIABLY. I have the DVR station, 2 batteries (neither really hold a charge anymore), mini DVR and USB docks. At the time, divx was how I encoded and/or downloaded video of the web and the Archos could play that format and many others easily right out of the box. Add solid build quality, swappable battery, TV recording, Music, Podcasts, digital picture viewing (plus digital camera connection to download or view pix right off the camera!) and web and later GPS and you had an unmatched feature-set. Why this device didn't sell like crazy is a mystery to me. It always seemed to remain a niche product.

Anyway enough of my archos fanboy-ism

Enjoy your 604!
