504 bullet camera problem

I have an archos 504 with the bullet camera with video/audio. The audio is showing up but the video is not coming through to even start recording. There is an "X" shwoing on the screen from the unit to the bullet camera but it is picking up sound. When I depress the button to start recording the light shows up near the button but nothing happens on the 504 unit. Is there something wrong with my bullet camera, wiring, etc.?
