Stopped using Archos AV400 about one year ago because the original charger broke when I was using it to charge a Sidekick 3.
I recently purchased a Sidekick 3 replacement charger to use for the Archos.
When plugged in the green light turns on and stays solid then after about 20 seconds, it starts rapidly blinking.
I hold the power button the start up screen appears and thats all. If I release the button the screen goes blank.
Is it okay to use a Sidekick charger? I only left it charging for about 20 mins, should I allow more hours to charge?
Sidekick Charger Specs:
Input: 110-240VAC
Output:DC5. 0-10. 0V
MAX 800MA
Original Charger Specs:
Input: 100V-240V
50-60Hz/0.3A
Output: 5V - 1.6A
AV400 Charging/Power Help
Re: AV400 Charging/Power Help
This is exactly what has happened to me and would love some help!
My charger blew up while in holiday in October and it totally drained of power. I just got round to replacing via ebay with a generic charger that said it would work with the AV400.
Now Iwhen plugged in the green light turns on and stays solid then after about 20 seconds, it starts rapidly blinking. I hold the power button the start up screen appears and thats all. If I release the button the screen goes blank.
I'm not so bothered about the mp3players itself as its so old and bulky but I do want the tunes that are on it. Can this problem be fixed and if not i there a way for me to get the music off it?
Many thanks!

Re: AV400 Charging/Power Help
the sidekick charger is too much voltage at 10V and the internal regulator is shutting down - thus the led blinking. A charger must be 5V +/- 5 % or so, centre positive on the pin, and regulated, ie an electronic one (most are nowadays).
Getting to the contents without the 400 working is easy if its a 2.5 drive, buy a 2.5ide usb box or dongle on ebay like this
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2-5-IDE-USB-HDD-H ... 3363f8016f
for a few pounds and take the drive out. If its a 1.8 drive you'll have to check the connectors because I'm not familiar with the drives used in the smaller 400.
