I have both. I am sending the elocity back. Pound for pound it just does not outperform the archos, except on the benchmarking software. It does not playback as many different file types, has some firmware bugs in recognizing storage space(internal/external) does not have true multitouch and the cur...

Tech specs show it running 1.6.

It is not meeting your needs,causing you problems-why are you keeping it?
Return it,get something else and move on.
It's not worth the aggravation

Realize they are also selling through multiple channels-amazon,J&R,tiger-and have to supply them with units as well.

You don't specify your os,but since neither windows or os x recognize ext3 natively-you have to search for a solution to download.
There was another topic on this forum-try looking for it.

Under os x I can get mount and read inly-no write to.

Ext3 is a file system like fat32,ntfs.
you use it because it offers speed and file size benefits over fat32(file size limit of 2gb).

I believe the neck bearded hippies of open source came up with it for linux.

H.264 has profiles, it is the video standard.
stick with main-high does not work on Archos.

I like handbrake-apple universal setting works nicely.

I have a buffalo airstation nfiniti router.
under 2.0.71 could not run router as wireless n only.
under 2.1.02 works perfectly on 2.4ghz wireless n only.

You could rename the file and try again.
It works for me.

Just tested after android reset-score is now 1279.
seems to be better off with 32mb.

I changed over to ext3, ran quadrant-went from 1251 to1585.
no idea if i had 32 or or 64 swap.

I have an old 30gb ipod.
If you send me the proper usb cable, I will plug it in and see if it gets recognized as an external drive.
