Re: Display issue with Archos 7 Home Tablet

Color Banding Test

Hi all, Kozak started off a topic recently, about color banding issues, mostly seen where a gradient e.g sky was present. ive noticed this myself, on a lot of players of different brands. It seems though that some are affected with the 7HT, some arent, so i thought if everyone could download the att...

Re: Display issue with Archos 7 Home Tablet

ive also found the 605 to be a much more capable player - or rather the screen was better suited - prob more expensive. im going to start a new thread with ref to this one obviously - asking people to download a sample - an avi and an mkv of the same movie, and to see if everyone will share their fi...

Re: Final (For Now Vid Convert)

hey graham,

Well to be honest its not something i tried, i read it....somewhere lol possibly here. it seems to make sense as its only a fat32 partition and im sure theres problems with large avis on that - but hey, if they do actually play then thats brilliant!

thanks for that graham :-)

Re: Display issue with Archos 7 Home Tablet

differing brightness levels may be a cause, it goes reeeeally far too bright if pushed, i generally have mine all the way down and i think the artificats arent so noticable then

Re: Display issue with Archos 7 Home Tablet

hmm thats very odd, it does it on mine too, and by the sounds of it a fair few others. id guess ure friend has got lucky and got a higher quality panel. as i say ive seen it on many many other other players of different brands. i dont think its a fault as such, merely cheaper materials maybe in the ...

Re: Display issue with Archos 7 Home Tablet

to be honest it happens on an awful lot of players, the creative zen range are notorious for it. a way to test is to compare a vid side by side with your friends player, if the same file on the same brand of players with the same firmware play differently, then as you say its most likely hardware gs...

Re: Display issue with Archos 7 Home Tablet

additionally, although it may seem counter intuitive, it helps to add noise to your video. The noise if the level is correct can help smooth out those graidient edges. In the video conversion app posted here, there is a blur/sharpen section - in this set radius to 0.10, strength to -0.60 (negative v...

Re: Display issue with Archos 7 Home Tablet

i think this issue is quite common with avi/mp4 files - its an encoding issue. if you raise the brightness and adjust the contrast of your pc monitor, you will see these same artifacts. a pc monitor has better ability to mask them out though. if you encode your video and lower the brightness and up ...

Re: films on archos7ht going out of sinc

a badly encoded avi can do this scots, take a look at the video encoder added by myself in this thread. run your movie through this and see if it makes any difference. it might do
