Re: all i need is a decent ebook reader for my g6 a5

I have SDE Kevin's build 199 I have been using FBReader. Really useful application. I had a software which could convert .pdf to .fb2 files. But I forgot the apps name. Will post it when I remember it. I have formatted my PC recently. It can even show books in portrait. I have now started using the...

Re: all i need is a decent ebook reader for my g6 a5

If you install an the SDE, epdfview works pretty well. It renders pages way faster than the archos one and supports indexes, bookmarks, and other cool stuff that the archos one doesn't. I tried epdfview. It is fast, but it is also very fiddly. As with alot of the Angstrom software it all needs to b...

Hard disk disappeared

Well this is the first time I have had any problem with my A7. I was watching a film on the train last night when it suddenly decided that the file was corrupt. I stopped the film and the hard disk had disappeared. My only visible location was the network. I restarted the machine and the hdd was fou...

Re: all i need is a decent ebook reader for my g6 a5

I also dislike the pdf reader with my A7.

What I have done is convert my pdfs to html and then read the books in a browser.

In the browser it is easier to hen bookmark the page so that I can pick up where I left off.

Re: Custom Boot Logo

NOt a hardcore unix type but perhaps it should be

Code: Select all

./flash -f i800x480.gz 0x060000
The ./ says run the file in this directory. The ./ can be added to the shell path so that the shell automatically searches in the current directory.

I had the same problem as regards the pdf reader on my A7. I gave up counting the nu,ber of times I forgot the last page I read in a book! My solution has been to install the dual boot, run the sde and read books in the midori browser. I convert to html the pdfs as and when I read them. In the web b...

I really find it amazing as to why people need so much on a pmp. Are you people just unable to make up your mind as to what to watch or listen or read? Oh by the way I have the 320 gb A7 and have about 20000 ebooks, 80 gigs of music, stacks of tv series to watch and still have half the disk spare. :...

Re: No sound at all in Kevins's SDE v199. Is this normal?

For the sound you need to change the driver. Go into the setting->audio tab in the mplayer and change the driver. I cannot remember what the default one is but you want the other one. Yes there is a keyboard ... tap the keyboard icon. If you have not got one then you have probably gone wrong somwhere.

Re: Enabling WIFI on my Archos 5 under SDE

This is what I have done to get wifi going (thanks to dm8tbr) 1. cd /etc in the sde 2. Type in the command ln -s /media/sda2/etc/wpa_supplicant_ssid.conf wpa_supplicant.conf As I understand it this creates a link between the original avos conf file and a virtual file in the /etc directory for the co...

Re: ?Compiling for Angstrom?

Perhaps you should install the package that contains gcc? I already have gcc on my dev machine. Do I need to somehow install it within the openaos dev environment as well? I had the issue when I first installed the sde. I think it may have been due to the fact that I had installed using root access...
