My Archos is fine on wifi and I have not experieced any dropouts or any other problems for that matter.
I am hoping however that Archos will put some developers back on gen 5 firmwares as soon as the Archos 5 has a stable release. I think that this is why there have been no updates.

Is it water behind the screen?
Try putting the Archos in a warm (not too hot) and dry place, such as a boiler or something for a while in order to dry it out. That is what I would do...

Funny............ cos I heard from a some other guy that they were going to release firmware 5 which just takes all the protection off everything...

This is what happens on mine.
When it is docked, the chg LED (unless battery in dock is empty)
If the mains is plugged in then the charge icon on the screen comes on and the LED stays on.
I think that is what is meant to happen

I would like to have a temporary playlist feature where you can add multiple tracks without having to add each track just before it is needed.
