Re: TUT: GUY FAWKES HACK WITH NO DVR STATION -HOW TO!

@nokia: that could also just be a symptom of having tried the hack before, depends if anything is actually mounted there or not @m_dk: try what nokia says anyway, but if you see that message again after trying disk1 a second time or any other name, don't be worried, all that means is the folder exis...

Re: Moldy Cheese for 4 GB and 160 GB 605s

i don't have either 160g or 4g to test, so i've done what i can with the 4g bootflash the way i understand the 160 is already solved it just needs to be written to flash instead of HD anyone know what the check for the kernel looks like? im feeling lazy and don't really wanna mount like four cramFS'...

Re: How to open an A7

im not sure what the last bit is? i might seriously consider letting the a5 make the partitions though, as addressing in programs could be bit specific if archos programmers have gotten lazy (or had no particular reason to test their hardware under unexpected situations like partition table movement...

Re: How to open an A7

@a>i sry if i'm not helping as i dont have a a5/7 to try test etc with, but: the way i understood it you might want to try to start with a totally blank drive (ie open gparted create one big partition) then pick format to set up the drive then in linux mount the drive and just copy all the files in ...

Re: How to open an A7

@ a>i maybe i'm misunderstanding your post, but after you mention going to repair disk and it staying on: are you then copying the remaining system files etc onto the a5 which were backed up from a functioning drive? i believe it was stated that the repair would set-up the partitions correctly but n...

Re: file0000.chk

i kinda find the part about serial_davinci interesting, as we discussed before about a serial programming method that might allow post 1.7 boot hack(without any sort of results excpet that to have nz confirm that the uart0 is not brought out from the BGA http://hackaday.com/2009/12/17/accessing-bga-...

Re: Poky Platform Builder

i was kind-of intrigued by the poky linux idea, kinda reminds me of the rom kitchens for WinMo devices,. i don't know enough about it to tell you whether its a good idea or the packages would be compatible, but if your issue with SDE is packages i think thats the idea of poky, is to make packages ea...

-As of 12-07-09- It is possible to enable a hack dubbed GFT2 in archos firmware 2.1.x as dosumented by maurice: http://www.unofgadgets.com/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=965 (as of now this does nothing to bootloader however, and is reset upon device powering off) http://wiki.archosfans.com/index.php?title=A...

Re: 'at midnight, and by torchlight' i present: guy fawkes hack

@tai the GF hack is what enables plug-ins, the archos g3niuos hacks i believe just patch the bootloader and allow you to hack the 5 without a dock, you'll have to look round a bit, but i believe there is a post that breaks down every step to do both hacks

edit: indeed i meant that one thanks arch!
