Re: How to get an "AV IN" on my 605 wifi.

wait. i just went and re-read your post. if i understand correctly that you want to use your 605 like a monitor for your box there is a trick--the dvr station (at least the standard one I know for sure) does not have an option to leave the screen on, it times out every so often, requiring you to pus...

Re: Ubuntu Mobile on the Archos=java will work?

has the toolchain changed?

I'd be interested in trying to help compile some programs for the new OpenPMA system and maybe trying to write one that would be in the background and poke input (as if a button were pressed) periodically in order to use the archos on the dock without the screen turning off every few seconds. so i w...

Re: uname

Any chance you guys got USB Host with a USB keyboard/gamepad incorporated in since it's a custom kernel?? If I could use a mini keyboard like this: http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/24/brando-charms-with-super-tiny-keyboard/ and take notes with the archos, then i'd save a few hundred bucks over the ne...

Re: Possibly a new idea for hacking fw v2.x.x. help needed

this may be daft(as many of my posts probably are) but I wonder if theres any GPL'd code in the GPS unit code/upgrade that we could request from archos that might make a >1.7 hack easier to find?

Re: Firmware 1.7.13 image / Archos 605wifi

Seems like there were a couple commands you had to run from the terminal first to make that partition visable, weren't there?

That being said I also have the hack and a linux box but am a bit of a command line noob so if someone wants to post the commands I'd be happy to do it

Re: Installing new applications on Qtopia...

I think the add/remove programs function in qtopia is borked... if you are good with a *nix command line though it is possible to install programs that have been compiled for the arm processor using the same trick as you use to install qtopia and i think link them to .pdf's if you poke around on the...
