Re: 1.6.53 with GF hack???

Is there any way the hack can be installed under 1.6.53 firmware? What are the patched and the patched bootloaders of .53 for? The guy that maintains that side simply had an a5 running 1.6.53. AFAIK 1.6.53 should not be used anymore because of some hardware incompatibilities and was removed from th...

Just boot into avos and install an official or a patched firmware from g3nius.org.

Re: Rolling Open Development back to the 600 series pls?

So just to be clear, has anyone had any success replacing the HDD in a 605 series device with their own HDD? I did that a long time ago (80G in a 605-30) but you don't want to know that because I did that with a hackable firmware. You probably want to know whether it can be done on a non-hackable f...

To fix this in later reboots, set vm.mmap_min_addr = 0 in /etc/sysctl.conf.
Well, just do what it says... :)

Re: ?Compiling for Angstrom?

For what its worth so far there are some math functions which run like a (slow) dog in java. That could be due to the fact that most ARM CPUs haven't got an FPU. Thus, every time a floating-point instruction is found in the executable, an exception will occur which has to be handled by the kernel u...

Re: ?Compiling for Angstrom?

I have tried to compile c code on my A7. I have installed the package for the compiler but I have not yet found an assembler (as). :( The gcc binutils package includes gnu-as, gas or as. It can also be called something like arm-linux-as. If you have a gcc cross-compiler there is definitely also the...

Re: ?Compiling for Angstrom?

Usually you don't really want to compile stuff on the device itself, you rather use a cross-compiler, i.e. a compiler that runs on your PC (usually an x86-based computer running linux) but compiles code for the ARM-architecture used in the A5/A7. If you compile the whole Angstr├Âm stuff yourself (e....

Re: SDE Noob questions (for Archos 7)

You can have the SDE stuff alongside the normal firmware. Just read this: http://forum.archosfans.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=30158 It still requires some hacking but CheBuzz is making an .aos file that will auto-install all this on an a7 with patched firmware (see http://archos.g3nius.org/ for details...

And if it is just about the container, "transcoding" will take a couple of minutes at most because all the video and audio content can just be copied over to the new container without any transcoding.

Re: Any way to turn the screen off in SDE?

The battery reading seems to be wrong. The batteries died way above 0%, and then showed 30% when I just start charging it, it also seemed to randomly increase/decrease around 40%-60% during use. That's due to the fact that battery voltage first decreases slowly and then quickly towards the end of t...

so owners of 705 wifi will have to wait until GFT4 to come out for the hack to work? another 2 years of waiting? :? Yeah, that's exactly what I did to dump the newer avos. It's just the last part I'm unclear on. If anyone can provide any guidance there, I'm all ears! ;) I would guess that taking a hacked avos (GF or moldy cheese) and a vanilla avos of the same version/device and comparing the two would easily sh...

Free plugins for everyone. Isn't that great? That's precisely the reason why we never released a bootloader hack but rather tried to have something to release along with it (which didn't really work out).

Re: Is anyone working on a blackra1n type hack.

You forgot about the flash lockdown thingy... err right, but then the SDE would have no way to remove that, no? Sure it would. Only the first stage of the bootloader is locked which comprises a signature check of the 2nd stage of the bootloader. Archos can sign any bootloader, thus, they could sign...

Sure but that doesn't mean that all of the code is open. Also there is this DRM problem. "Open" and "DRM" don't fit together which is also why the SDE deletes the DRM keys during installation.
