Re: NOW IT CAN BE TOLD!!!

If the new range of archos 5 and 7 home tablets render the old ones obsolete then why don't they open up the old imts so that you can install stuff on the archos os instead of messing around with the sde? That's precisely what they did. The SDE is just one example of what you could put on the devic...

Re: NOW IT CAN BE TOLD!!!

You are a hero. The people you have been insulting for years are precisely the same people now doing openAOS. OpenPMA just got rebranded to openAOS, the two are even hosted on the same server. Kevin who did all the original work for the openAOS releases for the A5 is kb from this forum, Bubu is curr...

Re: Custom Boot Logo

"chmod -v +x flash" revealed that it was trying to parse +x as a file/directory, and that it couldn't find the file "flash" either Has your friend found a solution to this? What kind of shell is running on the device? I think it is some uncommon shell. Try using "chmod 755 flash" before doing "./fl...

You say you have Ubuntu. What does "file flash" say? (run under Ubuntu and in the right directory)

Didn't work. Any other suggestions?
Is the file actually there? What does "ls -l" show?

Re: No more inodes left on "/" loop0. no space left on device

Theres nothing in a windows env. to compare it to, so I just couldn't make sense of why they set up their filesystem like that Seriously, I've been using Linux since 1997 and haven't ever had the inodes problem you have encountered on your first encounter with linux. In a normal system the harddisk...

Re: NES Emulator on archos605 (and SDL app porting guide)

But with the gen6 and gen7 the problem whould be that you would be able to only use a key at a time Not necessarily. I understand that the touchscreen will output coordinates x=(x1 + x2)/2 and y = (y1 + y2)/2 if you touch it on two places (x1, y1) and (x2, y2). Thus, you could also identify some co...

Re: No more inodes left on "/" loop0. no space left on device

I've been reading up on inodes, and not really understanding the concept Think of inodes as meaning directory entries. If you have many small files, the number of inodes may be consumed even though there is still free harddisk space. This is because you setup a fixed number of inodes upon creation ...

Re: How to open an A7

Is the A5 locked to the specific HDD that was in it, or just the same make/model? THe specific one, I'm afraid. Someone who should know suggested that in the A5/A7 the device is only locked to the type of hdd present in the device. The original reason for Archos to implement the hdd-lock was that s...

Re: NES Emulator on archos605 (and SDL app porting guide)

First of all: good job! :) the key control is a little frustrating at the moment At least the 605 does have some keys... The usb joystick (via minidock usb port) won't be too tricky Does it require a kernel module? There is still that nasty kernel module signature stuff in your way... I really ought...
