Re: Archos 80 G9 Root help

I took a currently available cellphone and selected one option that enabled it to use a 16gb SD card as its primary storage - an option you claimed did not exist in ICS. The end. I've NEVER said it was not possible with ICS on OTHER DEVICES. What I've been saying all along is that so far I've NEVER...

Re: Archos 80 G9 Root help

Not impressed by having 3x the amount of apps installed on it that it could do by default... No pleasing some people I suppose. As to why, the point was that this device runs ICS (4.0.3) and is capable of installing apps to SD... But again, never mind. No clue what you mean... You took an old outda...

Re: Archos 80 G9 Root help

Settings > storage default storage location (options in popup listing: Internal Storage, SD Card) internal storage in the G300 is 2gb, of which ~750mb is reserved for apps. Currently set to use the SD card as default storage I have a little over 2.4gb of apps installed on it. I can not say I'm all ...

Then the answer to your original question is "you don't".

If your device is working and stable I'd just be happy with it - it's more than many of Archos customer base can say.

Re: How do I get jellybean on it without root?

It has been ages, android 4.04 ice cream sandwich is out of date. Jelly bean is in date now 4.1 and 4.2. How do I get it? Even Key Lime pie android 5 is about to come out. How do I get jellybean without rooting my Archos 80 cobalt? Unless Archos release an updated firmware, you're stuck at 4.0.4. T...

Just for the record, here is a list of some of the problems I've been having with my Archos 80 G9 Turbo: -- freezing -- Apps suddenly quitting -- Apps not able to even open at all -- tablet restarting all by itself (!!!) -- frequent Error saying not enough memory (there is plenty of memory, since I...

It doesn't have move to sdcard functionality in the traditional 2.3 sense, it can set an external sdcard as primary storage. ... Again, no different than how the huawei does it, you can however switch the default storage. .... As a Linux user for 15 years... Since you appear to believe you know mor...

Get it above 500mb, otherwise android complains bitterly about storage running out. It may be some apps that do a lot of caching are being restricted in doing that due to the storage issue.

Re: Archos 80 G9 Root help

@the_lender The Huawei Ascend G300 is an Android smartphone, IT IS NOT A TABLET! Android tablets do not work the same way as smartphones do. Far too many people keep confusing the 'move to sdcard' functionality between them. Yes, it does. It runs android 4.0.3. The last time there existed in a sepa...

Re: Archos 80 G9 Root help

this seems a non-sequitur, moving stuff to the microSD card won't speed things up. The problem is, you upgraded beyond 4.0.7, so every time you turn on the screen LOTS of apps will start in the background. Get in the habit of starting the System Monitor application every time you start using the de...

Re: Archos 80 screen

When I turned on my Archos 80 yesterday, I discovered there is a line going down the right side of my screen about 1/4 inch from the edge. The line appears in all applications which leads me to believe it has something to do with the screen itself. Anyone have any ideas as to the cause and/or if it...

Just one thing that caught my eye ; normally after an upgrade I see a notification that 100's of apps are being optimized. This time it was only 1 :?
I suspect it was the Google prefs app, which wasn't present previously.

Re: Jelly Bean! Jelly Bean! Jelly Bean!

But I do not really care any longer: I know for sure that I won't buy another Archos tablet ever again, no matter how good the technical specifications may look on paper. I've never understood why so many people expected (or even wanted) Jelly Bean on their Archos G9 tablets to start with. This is ...

Re: Official 4.0.28 released - report bugs

I have indexing problems with 4.0.26 that crash my 101g9 after 5 minutes from startup. Likely because I have a directory on sd with thousands of small files. It didn't crash with the older Firmware before 4.0.24 Is Archos aware of this problem? Does 4.0.28 solve it? I too had that issue on my G9-80...

Re: insufficient storage in google play ?

Am i the only one often getting the insufficient storage message for no apparent reason recently when updating apps? I have unused flash space, and it doesnt seem related to too much used app space. Is it a ram message... maybe google play acts as if i have 1gb rather than my actual 512? My smaller...
