Re: How to open Archos 80xs

I need to bump this as I am trying to repair my 80xs - the power switch has become loose and gets stuck. There are no screws and I have tried to separate the back plastic from the front which forms the screen. There don't seem to be any clips. I see some plastic points that bridge the two sides and ...

Re: My review of the 80XS

Update, the power switch has broken. Says it all really. Archos uses 3rd tier Chinese manufacturers to produce their products which results in crappy devices. A number of U.S. based retailers are selling the 2013 Nexus 7 (a much better tablet) for only $ 179 and also throw in a $ 20 gift card this ...

Re: My review of the 80XS

Very helpful & thorough review. I just wish it had a kickstand and a 16 gb option. The keyboard cover works as a stand of course. As there is a microSD card slot the lack of 16GB internally does not bother me - I have 8+32GB already and would have 8+64GB if I could work out how to format a 64GB car...

My review of the 80XS

I have had the 80XS for a bout a week now and it replaces a series of faulty 80 G9 Classic tablets. Design and build quality It's about the same size as an 80G9, but slimmer. The white finish shows up dirt very easily but the non-shiny surface is easy to grip and the device is light and easy on the ...

This is not the correct forum for Titanium discussion. This is for 80XS tablets which are completely different designs.

The Archos Specifications indicate the 80XS is SDXC and 64GB compatible.

The 80XS is supposed to be 64GB microSD compatible, right?

My 64GB MicroSD card (Samsung Class 10) isn't recognised - simply reported as a 'damaged card' and although it offers to reformat the card the system hangs trying to 'unmount' the card. The card, used with an adapter, works fine on a PC and a digital camera. The card was originally in my Samsung Gal...

Re: Surprisingly little press coverage of the 80 XS

After 24 hours of use the consensus here is that the 80XS gets the thumbs-up. It's not slow, the graphics are smooth and responsive, it looks well made and the design is better than the G9. The keyboard cover is a nice bonus. I have had no problems with the wifi and the GPS and compass both work alt...

Re: Surprisingly little press coverage of the 80 XS

Well, here we are, on the train with the 80XS tethered to my Galaxy Note via wifi and I'm using the keyboard with the tablet docked on my lap. This would work better on a table but it is usable this way. The main problem is that the screen is too upright. Having arrow keys is fantastic, though! Wifi...

Re: Surprisingly little press coverage of the 80 XS

Well, so far so good - I have unpacked the 80XS and it is now charging (it arrived half charged). This looks like what the 80 G9 should have been. Build quality looks very nice so far and yes, I did get the keyboard cover. I was a little nervous about the magnetic attachment arrangement because I do...

Re: Surprisingly little press coverage of the 80 XS

I understand that my 80XS has been delivered but I was out of the office most of the day - so I hope to pick it up tomorrow. I said to Archos I wasn't bothered about the keyboard dock/cover so I am curious to know if they supplied one. It seems to be standard everywhere I see the XS models advertise...

Surprisingly little press coverage of the 80 XS

I am quite surprised there has been so little coverage of the 80 XS considering it has an interesting spec. When mine arrives I will do a review here... in the meantime if you have one why not share your thoughts on your 80 XS?

Re: Is the 80XS more reliable than Gen 9 Archos tablets?

Well, maybe my luck is on the up. Archos was sympathetic to the fact that the Titanium 80 was quite a bit less in spec. than the G9 80 - so they offered me a Platinum 80. Apparently they had no 80 XS examples in stock. But I have just been informed I will be getting an 80 XS after all, so I don't ha...

From bad 80 G9 experience - 80 Titanium here we come...

It looks like Archos will be replacing my third faulty 80 G9 with an 80 Titanium. This means I have to trade Bluetooth, GPS and USB charging for a prettier unit, a back camera (that I understand isn't very good), faster CPU and graphics, more system memory, better screen and Jelly Bean. In the end I...

Is the 80XS more reliable than Gen 9 Archos tablets?

I am on my third 80 G9 and although unit No.3 was brand new the wifi doesn't work properly. I am now being told there is a chance I might get a different model as its replacement. My limited research suggests that the 80XS is an updated 80 G9 with a faster CPU, more memory and comes in a white finis...

Re: Official 4.0.28 released - report bugs

I have just received a replacement 80 G9 (512MB RAM 1GHz processor). It's clearly not a brand new one but the physical condition is no worse than the one I returned (which was good because it was protected by a decent case), and I didn't have to go through the initialisation process. 4.0.28 is insta...
