Re: Is the Archos Fans forum dead or dying?
In short yes. Certainly the G9 section is circling the plughole. I suspect that as the G9s start to fail, die or just grind to a halt users will be offloading them, shoving them in drawers or giving them to children. Archos do seem to be putting out much fewer firmware updates on new kit. Either ...

See http://ec.europa.eu/consumers/rights/gen_rights_en.htm
Sellers of consumer goods within the EU are obliged to guarantee the conformity of the goods with the contract for a period of two years after the delivery of the goods.
That's an EC directive.

Re: Extending RAM
Ordinarily, fw upgrade wouldn't touch physical RAM...
But...I believe that 1Gb G9s only showed up 512Mb of RAM under Android 3.x. To get the full benefit it was necessary to upgrade the firmware to Android 4.0.
Perhaps this is what's meant ?

Hi
As this is a known design flaw (OK, they haven't coughed to it but how many G9s have come back with this problem?), there's nothing to lose by contacting Archos and laying it out to them. I'd stress how carefully you've used your tablet. Are you in Europe? EC regulations stipulate electronic ...

Re: What should Archos do?
Having been an Archos watcher for a while now, I think they need to focus on a smaller, clearly differentiated range of products using common platforms (eg Allwinner, Rockchip, TI...) and specs. The G9 series failed to reach JB owing to a crazy fragmentation of hardware setups. Archos is turning ...

Just rolled onto 4.0.28 and so far it seems OK. Oddly 4.0.26 was stable for me.

Re: Jelly Bean! Jelly Bean! Jelly Bean!
I guess this means a trip to Cyanogenmod 10 is coming up for my G9 80. Anyone had any experience with CM10? From reading around, I'm not clear if the Archos 3G stick works under CM10. Can anyone say what the situation is right now?

Re: Let's get serious about the G9 for a moment
So Archos replied via FaceBook about a JB upgrade for G9s.
Apparently the different hardware permuations of the series poses issues (different processors, RAM, and the 3G stick) but they are still investigating. One wonders if they do have JB running on G9s, but it isn't stable/optimised etc ...

Re: Let's get serious about the G9 for a moment
Seeing as this is a subject close to our hearts, I asked Archos on Facebook... In short, the service person who replies didn't know but said they'd look into it. FB is the best way of getting answers from Archos these days and whoever writes the responses seems fairly good at getting answers.

Re: Firmware 4.0.25 Live - Report Bugs!
Just updated to 4.0.26 and immediately it seems I have much more free RAM on boot. Overall, my perception is that the system is more responsive and faster. Will test the 3G key throughout today. Hopefully this will resolve the long-standing issue with 3G...

Re: Firmware 4.0.25 Live - Report Bugs!
The upper USB port doesn't work anymore.
No hard disk.
No usb pen.
No 3g key.
Seems that they are On, because the led are On, but there is no more communication.
Now i've to connect the 3g key on the microUSB using the usb_otg cable.
Could be that the ribbon cable inside the tablet is broken. I ...

Hi
Just downloaded this and installed to my G9 80. All seems well, slightly less RAM than previously but not much. GPS now works like it's never worked before. I'm inside a large office, surrounded by glass and steel etc...and I got 4 satellites solidly locked! Awesome. Haven't had the chance to ...

Did any of you resolve the issue? I have ordered a replacement from Amazon. I will not be updating the firmware!

My wife took stock of a 101xs today, bought direct from Archos after a delay in delivery. Coming from a Mac for productivity, there's some curve for her but she has an Android phone so I'm hopeful...

This appears to be common to tablets - I note from feedback on the Play store that some Samsung tab users can't get it to work.
