Re: Archos 80 G9 now not turning on at all

Family has mine on a trip. And they called to say they had the same problem. Had them hold in the power button and hold it in for awhile (60+ seconds). The LED went in to a fast flash mode. After setting it down a few minutes later it went solid green. And then after that it started to boot up on it...

Re: Finally a 7 inches Icecream - Availabe from Arnova...

Just got the Arnova 7 G3 in the mail today from J&R. Very good price and a very nice tablet. No Google Play Store or any Google apps. Skype runs, but camera image shows up on my Nexus S banded and strange looking. On the tablet everything looks good. I'll need to call a desktop to see if it is the p...

Re: Server problems after installing arctools

The problem you are most likely seeing on AppsLib is referenced by ArcTablet.com (they have a direct link to ArcTools so you can install Google Market and other Google applications). Install ArcTools from the link, then use arctools to install the Google apps, and then use Google Market to install w...

Re: Any other user have this screen defect?

I bought a new Archos G9 80 Turbo version yesterday, and the problem is still there. When i hold the tablet with my hands, or put on a table, 2 areas have the ripple effect. Archos said that they fixes the problem, but it's not true. The Turbo version is the newest version that they sell, and the p...

Re: kde on G9

So we can now have Android 3.x and 4.0 on x86 systems. And a full linux ARM distro with KDE on G9 tablets. I wonder which will win? I like the idea of a "real" linux distro. The usefulness of existing Linux software is a nice option. A G9 tablet with a full office suite? LaTeX with editors? Mathemat...

Re: Touch screen defect?

My question is: Does anyone experience the same issue? Could you test the app and give me some feedback if it's the same for you? By the way, the tablet has the famous screen defect... already got a new one from the store I bought it and while it looked fine in the store it seems even worse now tha...

Re: Any other user have this screen defect?

Cool, could you possibly measure the weight on a kitchen scale? Would be interesting to know if there really is a difference, or if only feels heavier as a mental result of it being stiffer? I didn't weight mine before sending it back. But, it is now right at 17 oz. And some on the old reviews have...

Re: Any other user have this screen defect?

Just got mine back today from RMA (it was over a month away from home :( ). It had a defective touch screen and the screen defect everyone has mentioned. I am happy so far with what they did to it. My repaired tablet is noticeably stiffer and heavier. They must have improved the internal case design...

Re: JUST ORDERED! I have a few questions?

I wouldn't worry about the "screen defect". It is not actually a screen defect but a property of LCD displays. I have had laptops and PC monitors with the same behavior... pressing on the back causes a dimple on the screen. In general the solution is don't do that. I would disagree with that. There...

Re: Any other user have this screen defect?

Received my replacement unit, even worse! I get the screen ripple on two areas now, near the USB slot and round the bottom half. Will be sending this right back! At least you got yours. I bought mine from store.archos.com. RMA'd it October 11 because the top of the touch screen didn't work. Still n...

Re: Any other user have this screen defect?

Archos is currently in the middle of exchanging my tablet right now. I emailed support and they setup an exchange with no issues. Based on other posts I think the defective products are out of circulation right now I am very confident I will receive a good unit. I'm waiting for mine to get back as ...

Re: This review might rekindle war drums with England and Fr

I think it's a GREAT review! (better than their US counterpart did!). And actually, that "screen ripple" is ALSO a deal breaker for me! A real positive from the review, for owners of a G9 80 at least, is that they quoted Archos as saying they would fix any tablets that have the ripple defect. I thi...

Market is acting really flakey. If you can put Google Books and Voice in the default apps that would be great too. Thanks for working on this.

Re: [ROM] [10/19/2011] Cyanogen Mod 7 for Arnova 10

Have it installed on my Arnove 10 now. The screen rotation is flipped (when it should be portrait it is landscape etc). The search button doesn't bring up a search field in Market and the My Apps link is a black screen. But, I can use google search to install stuff via Market.

Re: Archos 80 G9 and Linux File transfer

Linux has many programs that support MTP. I installed gMTP especially because the default music player was not recognizing the tablet, despite that it also has support for MTP. The thing is, none of the programs seem to realize the machine is there. Si there maybe a setting on the tablet itself I n...

Re: Does anyone with and G9 80 *not* have screen problems?

On my unit the 3G cover is a fairly tight fit! No room for rubber bands and even a single sheet of paper is difficult. In noticed no difference. Thanks for checking. I'm assuming I shouldn't have told you to do that, because I got banned. First time I got banned from anything. Anyway, off to...
