why not just buy an inverter, and use that with your mains charger?

Re: Image backup before Windows install attempt
Windows is for x86 processors, the G9 has an ARM... so you are not going to get anywhere with this project. (Yes, I know WindowsRT is available for ARM machines - but only to OEMs who are designing a machine, and paying a large license fee to Microsoft. Unless you have a 'friend' at one of those OEM...

Re: Installing Apps on a USB memory stick?
In a word, no: you cannot move apps to the SD card, so I would be very surprised if you could move them to a USB stick.

Re: Application storage on 80 G9 Turbo (2012 model)
if you have a flash disk version, I think all the space is shared between apps and your data. if you have a hard disk version, though, there is a small, fixed-size partition that is used for the apps (and their data), and the rest is for your data: books, music, videos, etc. I can't be definite abou...

Re: mines working
Er, why? What does this achieve? I would imagine that the OP is no longer able to charge his G9 via the microUSB port. His fix allows power to be delivered via the 3G USB connector - but of course the software in the tablet does not realise it is being charged, and so you cannot do operations (such...

Re: Tablet becomes unresponsive
Whenever you start it up, and/or as soon as you notice it is giving poor responsiveness, run the 'system monitor' and kill all running apps. You will find that there are a huge number that are started off in the background 'to be helpful' - but all they do is waste CPU cycles, batter power and netwo...

You are more likely to get a positive response if you post in the right part of the forum.

Re: compatible sim cards for archos 80 g9 dongle
I have the Archos dongle and it works fine with a Vodafone IE sim but not with an O2 IE sim. We even manually input the network settings and it just doesn't find the network. We know the sim works because it has been tested in an O2 dongle. Any ideas anyone? Some SIMs are locked to particular netwo...

Re: archos 80 g9 turbo vs "Google Nexus tablet"
With the announced Samsung Galaxy Mega (5.8" and 6.3"), phones are no longer too small. And now Archos have thrown their hat in the ring, with the announcement of the Archos 50 Platinum and Archos 53 Platinum, a pair of dual-SIM phablets. (They say availability is end-May... but did not say which y...

Re: Archos 80 G9 Root help
the system seems to be a bit slow, I'm interested in moving apps to my 16gb HD card this seems a non-sequitur, moving stuff to the microSD card won't speed things up. The problem is, you upgraded beyond 4.0.7, so every time you turn on the screen LOTS of apps will start in the background. Get in th...

... or internal space for a usb flash drive. looking at the G9 threads, hdd and android is an uneasy mix, whereas flash-based storage uses less power and does not suffer from spin-up delays, rotational delays or head seek time. much more sensible for Archos to concentrate on other things than patchi...

Re: Anyone tried resoldering the power/USB port?
Bro, I just got my 80 G9 and I noticed when trying a thumb drive on the back "G" spot the usb port sliding in and out. Scared the crap out of me. Is it supposed to do that? Yes, it's meant to slide, the idea is that it can improve the reception if you have a 3G stick in there. (A more sensible solu...

Re: Anyone tried resoldering the power/USB port?
Usually this problem can be traced back to a cracked flexible flat cable. I had to fix mine as well. An explanation on how to do it is given somewhere on the forum. It's not that hard to do, but you need to find the right cable. I found a replacement cable in an old laptop, but it's also sold onlin...

Re: Downgrading Firmware
If you have upgraded to 4.0.24 or later of the firmware, there is no way to go back to an earlier version. Sorry for being way late but I forgot to set my alarm clock. Are you saying that if you flash to any firmware prior to 4.0.24 you can still go back? I mean back to Honey? Edit: Never mind. Jus...

Re: Archos SMB not working on 101 G9
use the 'Files' applicaton. click on the check-box to the left of the folder you don't want to have indexed. Click on the 3-blob icon in the top-right corner, and select the 'remove from media library' option. The file manager will put an empty field called .nomedia in the directory, and the indexer...

Re: Archos SMB not working on 101 G9
(one way to get partial control of the indexer is to tell it not to index most of your directories. of course, that will mean that the files will not appear in the media player library - but I think you can still play them if you use the file manager to select them.)

Re: Extending RAM
when the system runs out of RAM, them memory manager will kill off processes, but first it gives them a chance to record critical info about what they were doing. when they restart they will read this iinfo and try to get back to where they were. http://techcure.wordpress.com/2012/08/31/increase-ava...
