Re: Finding a better rom
I installed this firmware, but it does not work in the Android Market, I can not download the application. Do I need to format the SD card as you described?
Formatting your SD card is just for Link2SD to work.
About the market, if you encounter such "unsucessful" then wait for half a day or more ...

Re: Finding a better rom
Here is a BQ Voltaire custom rom android 2.1 with Link2SD. Prerequisites: Fast big SD card with 2 partitions (1st FAT32, 2nd EXT3). Made with mini-tool. 2 x (primary)
No software of one's own. Only adapted. With me runs super.

Re: Finding a better rom
First thank you so much!!
I'm downloading and will test it tomorrow.
I just tried the 2.3 Cyanogen mod but it seems to be bad and has lots of bugs.
'bout the 2.2 rom, do you mean for Archos 70b ? do you mean this : http://forum.archosfans.com/viewtopic.php?f=82&t=56987 ? I've just seen it and will ...

Re: Finding a better rom
1. I want to replace the default Android fonts with my Arial unicode (to read my UTF-8 fonts).
2. put 2 files into /system/etc , for Link2SD to work.
init-sd.sh
install-recovery.sh
Just 2 of that, so thank you so much for helping me! All files are uploaded to mediafire:

Re: Some information for buy an archos 70b ereader
1) Yes, you can
2) It's Rockchip 2818
3) I don't know that the Archos 7 v2 is cheaper than the 70b, however it's your comparison and your choice.
4) I don't know, you'd better look for it harder.

Re: Finding a better rom
So, without R/W permission, it's not fully rooted, and so on doesn't have any value!
I can't use any Link2SD or even flashed to 2.3.5 successfully but can't do anything better, can't change fonts, can't use ROM Manager, etc...
So the problem is how to unlock the NAND/system partition ?

Yes! After spending hours with that I realized the system partition is read only, and so on I can't do anything even with Root Explorer (can't Mount R/W even restarted), or using adb to remount . Try some ways but all failed.
So we can't do anything about that? How can we install apps to SD instead ...

Re: Finding a better rom
Hi Jef, I installed yours and see the SuperUser run successfully, that means this one is rooted!
On my first run, the market is updated silently so I don't recognized until it restart, and now it's the new appmarket one, that's so great!
I'm running this rom smoothly and thank you Jef so much ...

Re: Finding a better rom
So nice to read this topic and nice to hear that jefi has his own firmware too, I'll try and give feedback soon. Thank you all!
p/s:
@float5: which rom did you tried? My downloaded one is not rooted and so far can't do anything root-related.
