I sent my Archos with a broken USB port in to Archos...


Got a replacement within 2 weeks, and 2.4.90 came pre-loaded on it!

Thought I'd let you know I was looking through my replacement 101 that came in a few days ago, and I realized that its running Firmware 2.4.90...

This isn't even mentioned on Archos' support/download page or even on their facebook page...

Guess everyone is up for an upgrade soon... I ...

Hey guys I recently got a replacement unit from Archos because my original unit had the faulty usb and I still had a few more months left on my warranty.

My question is, what is the status of the warranty on this replacement unit? is there a new warranty or does my warranty just default to it ...

UPDATE:

Install the new version of HBO GO from the market, IT WORKS!

(make sure to uninstall whatever old version you have before you install this new one)

I noticed that my device got slower after I rooted, expanded the partition and installed a ton of apps!

FYI - I have yet to try this myself as I'm at work right now.

Oh and I'm not responsible if you damage your device... :D

Thats interesting that the Archos rep told you that you could move the apps to another part of your device.

People here have either been using apps2sd or rooting and expanding the apps partition themselves manually.

Well, I caved and reformatted my device completely, even had to download the firmware from the Archos site and load it on...... And yep, usb is still not working, brilliant!

I tried all that too. I am sure it is a hardware issue. If amazon hadn't authorised a full refund I'd consider taking it ...

PS this is my third Archos device (also had the 5it and the 70) and I really was a fan of the company, I always supported them publicly on their facebook page but after reading everything on this thread and experiencing it for myself, its starting to look like I will be moving on to a different ...

Grrrrrrr... My usb JUST died today, I've had the device since May!


I reeeeeeeally don't feel like wiping and resetting as its a pain to have to set everything up again, my device has the latest firmware and is rooted with expanded app storage.
Dunno if Archos would RMA my rooted device, but thats ...

I find myself kicking myself a little bit for buying the 70 since I had a Droid (And now a Droid 3) so the screen wasn't that much bigger. Had my eye on getting a 101, too, but now I changed my focus to a Windows Tablet. :o

Was on the fence about this...

I'm planning on updating both my tablet ...

I've had them both - found the 101 to be more useful due to the bigger screen size, just seemed more practical for me!

I must admit I was really surprised to find this mentioned by ARCHOS on facebook.

When asked if Gen8 would see anything beyond Android 2.2 OSes, the response was...
