Re: debian - is it possible to have swap on the microsd

ok, i am not sure what you mean... maybe this helps a bit: I do work on a own ubuntu image, with nicktime 2.6.37 kernel. It doesn't shut down, touchsreen works nicely, I can ssh into it via usb and I can mount sd-card, pretty sure I could use it as swap as well. I wouldn't want to try to use btrfs a...

Re: debian - is it possible to have swap on the microsd

Does 2.6.27-omap1 support the cardreader?

I assume you are inside a rootfs image. There are two ways I can think of do get swap.

1. use a swap file
2. mount a external (swap)-image as loop

@floyd_cansil

I think, you somehow missunderstood me. no offense. allow me follwing stupid question: why would you want a installer.sh, when 1) the debootstrap aproach is deprected 2) the fist part of this guide http://dev.openaos.org/wiki/Debian%20gen8 works nicely with a few modification for gen7

Re: Successful Debian on a 5it? Post your questions here...

about the shutdown (unless your battery is really defect):

for 2.6.37.2 kernel my previous post is it. I tested it and it works fine.

for 2.6.27-omap1 kernel you need something like this: http://dev.openaos.org/browser/trunk/op ... rchos-init

two files: archos-init and ping-atmega. ok, openembedded and debian might differ... but thats all i can help.

Re: debian on a5it?

http://meego.openaos.org/images/archos_ ... ade.tar.gz

(on 2.6.37+ kernel)

make sure you have /usr/sbin/ping_atmega.sh in debian, check permissions.

and this line in rc.local

Code: Select all

/usr/sbin/ping_atmega.sh &

no more shutdowns, you'll see.

Thanks 4 e17 packages.

Re: debian on a5it?

Can you post a how-to and a package list? I am interested in e17 desktop. Also... - you can't use gen8 modules. - look at nicktimes changes for ubuntu to get atmega right - if you need modules and you don't build them from source, just extract "/lib/modules/2.6.37+" from nicktimes ubuntu t...

Re: debian on a5it?

nicktime ported 2.6.37.2 native for a5it, its not complete yet but quite nice. http://gitorious.org/archos-linux/ you should have seen this when visiting openaos.org.

update: for debian you might take a look at nicktime's ubuntu images and his changes. http://meego.openaos.org/images/archos_gen7/37/
