Re: Archos G9 1.2Ghz October and 1.5Ghz December availabilit

I read here: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/archos-to ... processor/ that the 1.2 turbo is just an overclocked 1.0ghz. what do you guys think?

Re: How do you think they implement their new 3G cellular mo

there is not one solution that will waste more battery than another. even if there is, it would be so minor you would
not even notice it.

Re: Protective Case

i like making things out of duct tape, so i tried to make one for my A70. it turned out great with the sides a little loose because they had to be rounded. i made a strap for it so it can hang from my dashboard in the car when i have it in gps mode (i bought a gps unit for it). i also made the place...

Re: HELP! app installation error

there are a lot of apps which can't be placed on external storage (sd card, etc.) and can only be placed in interal memory. but even that is limited to a few megabites and the archos does not allow you to put them into the larger internal storage, only the reserved app space. many people have this p...

Re: Sd card not able to mount anymore

the only two things i can think of is there being a bad connection in the sd card slot and there being a bug in the system. i doubt it is a bad connection because that would not cause it to do the opposite of what you tell it to do. have you tried choosing "eject" instead of "mount"? it might mount ...

Re: What should Archos do for Gen9/Gen10, write suggestions

My top priority would be to minimize the space-wasting bezel. Ideally zero it out - there is no need to put a huge margin all around just because a few people can't figure out to put their thumbs on the edge rather than the face. I don't care if any other changes are made; just rerelease gen8 or ea...

thanks. i tried a search in the forums, and there was nothing explaining it. I don't know how people can go so long on these forums not knowing.

also, how many posts between each rank?

Re: What should Archos do for Gen9/Gen10, write suggestions

There are many companies who want honeycomb. by a few, they could mean 45%, but there is no way to know. there are so many companies who want it, so many companies barely anyone has heard about, that a few in our terms could mean a lot. but again, there is no way to know.

I hope it will have a gorilla glass screen. then we will not have to buy screen protectors, and it would make it nearly indestructable.

Re: How do you think they implement their new 3G cellular mo

I opened up my dad's archos 70, which I use a lot and it is pretty good, and looked at the contents. I don't know how they're going to fit a 3g modem in there without gutting the archos out first.

on a side note, I put the archos back together and it still works as should.

I have only been here a few days, but i have been on other forums for years. On thos forums, even if there are only two moderators and one admin, things still get done fairly quickly. the fastest moving forum is probably old.casualcollective.com. you may not have heard of it, but they are running th...

Re: How do you think they implement their new 3G cellular mo

But if we get assigned a phone number, then can't we use that number for anything? otherwise it is a number that is wasted. they would not do that I don't think. P.S. you don't have to quote me as long as my post is the one right before yours. it would save much space and we would have to scroll less.

Re: How do you think they implement their new 3G cellular mo

#1) How would the sim card work if there is no phone number to give it? we are using internet tablets here, not phones. does the tablet have it's own ip adress, or is that only for routers? i am not an expert with tablets yet. #2) even if there is a process that takes a full five minutes to switch f...

Re: How do you think they implement their new 3G cellular mo

lol, "dumb antennas" is what the sim card basically is. it connects us to the internet anywhere. and anyway, how would the carriers know we keep switching? all they see is that we turn 3g on and off periodically. It is not like they are psychics and can see through our eyes to know what we are doing...

Re: How do you think they implement their new 3G cellular mo

Or, maybe it could be an app we can get that has features similar to a wifi manager, but tweaked to fit a 3g purpose instead. then, we could see signal, which ones are available, memory usage, etc. we could then disable it if we want, same with wifi. So basically, a second wifi manager app made for ...

Re: How do you think they implement their new 3G cellular mo

Well, we have no way of knowing exactly what will happen. We just have to wait for archos to release more info about it. As for what method they use, i hope it will be a virtual sim card so we don't have to carry them around with us. But, if you are like me, you will probably only need one sim card ...

Re: How do you think they implement their new 3G cellular mo

It will not be just a 3g modem, but a "disruptive" 3g modem. i made a topic about that to see if anyone can explain the disruptive part of it. the reports about the gen9 specs said that archos is trying to "shake up the telco market" whatever that means. I have the idea that this gives us the abilit...

disruptive 3g modem

I have seen on every report of the specs of gen9 that there will be a disruptive 3g modem. I tried google-ing what it is... nothing. I tried looking it up on these forums... someone did ask about it once, and all i got was something about the telco market, but i still do not know what the actual dis...
