Re: new firmware 2.3.26 - report bugs here

Can't install apps. Appslibs, Amazon, etc. dl craps out at c. 90% pretends like it's finished, tries to install then, whoops can't install. Archos could definitely push out a new fw soonish. Gribbit. [EDIT] ...and since I forgot to re-iterate in other posts the launcher rotate updates are INCREDIBLY...

Re: Archos Applib vs Android Marketplace

You can also do the Amazon app store now as well which just requires going to the Amazon site and getting the app. The nice thing about the Amazon store is that they give away an app a day, but the down side is that they have a screwy DRM... The Amazon store already has WAY WAY WAY more useful stuff...

Re: Archos 43 or gen 9 5inch

sequitur you say: I suspect they went to a 4.3 inch screen in gen 8 for a readily accessible screen. Given the number of phones coming out with that size I'd think it would make more sense if they offer that size to go to a 5 inch screen. For a portable device I'd argue that a 7 inch screen is a lo...

Re: What general organizing Android App should I get?

You should really consider the HP ipaq 111 or the IPAQ 211. They run the Windows mobile OS, which a lot of people hate. But it will do exactly what you are looking for right out of the box. http://www.amazon.com/HP-111-Classic-Handheld-FA979AA/dp/B000VU0CQG/ref=dp_cp_ob_e_title_2 Pretty expensive f...

Re: 15% off all Archos tablets at NewEgg

i know i am going to get blasted for saying this in this forum, but with price dropping on Galaxy Tab (as low as 200 for refurb), prices need to drop significantly more on Archos product to compete. If you can get a galaxy tab for same or less, would you really pick archos (and its never ending fir...

Re: What general organizing Android App should I get?

I purchased a Archos 43 and want to basically use it as a PDA. If you're able to then return the Archos and spend the same money on a PDA. Android isn't completely pointless without any kind of regular or persistent internet connection but it's not that great either. Almost everything about it assu...

Re: new firmware 2.3.26 - report bugs here

I excluded already wifi as being a cause. It discharges at the same rate even with wifi turned off. No fancy apps here, very few actually and well known, all with automatic updates disabled. Problem was the same from the beginning after a fresh install of the new firmware with android reset. no ide...

Re: new firmware 2.3.26 - report bugs here

In my case the power LED also stays on even on deep sleep and the battery is discharging at about 10% for every 8 hours of "deep sleep". Horrible experience  something's preventing it from actually sleeping then is what that means. Maybe some app or maybe WiFi/power setting is preventing slee...

Re: Poll: Increased app storage at the expense of media stor

I want more RAM, unfortunately a sw update won't fix that but seriously more app storage for the A43 and above, say at least 1GB would be nice, but I'd have to go for less on the A32 & 28 as they have no uSD slot and hence are limited to flash storage as shipped... I'd go for a couple 100MBs extra t...

Re: new firmware 2.3.26 - report bugs here

batt charge update for me on A43: I forgot and left it on the charger all night the other day, and when removed and checked the charge meter was reporting 100%. (Usually I try to NOT leave it on the charger as I really don't trust Archos' charging hw given the variety of charge levels that I have ob...

Re: Does the 32 have capacitive touch input?

Hi. If not, is there any other (Archos or not) WIFI only (no 3G or 4G) Android device that does have capacitive screen? The resistive touchscreen on my A32 is quite responsive, as in way better than any other recent device that I've owned with a resistive touchscreen that was made recently. The scr...

Re: new firmware 2.3.26 - report bugs here

Just an update on the battery charge meter not being 100% when LED is blinking. I again forgot about having my A43 on to charge(was at 75% but I wanted full for the day later) and I just now unplugged it after probably sitting on the charger for hours after the LED started blinking and the mter read...

Re: new firmware 2.3.26 - report bugs here

Just curious... Are the folks with the white screen and battery charge percentage weirdness using the "deep sleep" mode setting when the screen turns off? I don't nor have ever used deep sleep and suffer none of the issues expressed here and I'm very happy with 2.3.26. Just curious... nope. My Deep...

Re: Tablets evolving well, except for "usable" SIZE.

I am new here (1st post) and perhaps this subject has been beaten to death somewhere already, but I haven't seen it. I hear all the talk about screen touch response, graphic speed and brilliance, and remarks about the evolution of other capabilities where most of the talk is of incremental improvem...

Re: Did we buy prototype devices?

Theres very little margin in netbooks, also a lot of the guts are relatively cheap. An atom plus chipset is 20 bucks. The screen is a super common very crappy TN panel (same thing as the 101). I do agree though, tablets and phones are both generally very overpriced. I think a lot of it is because t...

Re: new firmware 2.3.26 - report bugs here

Just another update wrt charging. This morning I charged my A43 in anticipation of a trip(started @ 78% charge but I wanted full for the trip), and left it charging longer than normal. When I remembered it (and the LED was blinking) I took it off the charger and found that the meter was only reading...

Re: new firmware 2.3.26 - report bugs here

3. Charging up to 94% only instead of 100%. Battery looks to be draining quite fast as well. That's better than the 29% mine capped at last night, or the 9% it seems to be stuck at now. I couldn't watch any TV shows on the train this morning like I usually do because of a low battery. This is surel...

Re: Did we buy prototype devices?

I'll admit that I would love Archos to come out with a perfect tablet. Best screen made. Fastest processor available (for the coming year), strongest case, lightest weight, butter-smooth graphics, and so on. I don't see them capable of selling it for the gen8 prices without losing money on each. Th...

Re: Version 2.3.26 how's it treating you?

Incredibly sluggish launcher screen repainting on rotations or anything else that triggers a launcher screen repaint. i.e. notification bar & backgrounds come right back, but widgets and shortcut icons take quite a while to be repainted. (1st appeared with 2.3.26 and didn't happen in 2.0.71 -> 2.1.0...
