Re: Gapless playback on Archos 48 Internet Tablet (500 GB)

Right now I'm waiting for answers from VLC.... As for your suggestions, I don't know why but I fail to load your ftp Sorry about my ftp. I had opened the port on my router firewall but forgot to change the firewall on the server itself...doh. It's up now and accessible from anywhere (checked and ve...

Re: Gapless playback on Archos 48 Internet Tablet (500 GB)

I'm not sure why deadbeef wouldn't work. However I would avoid visiting evozi from any Android browser as it tries to infect your device with ad or spyware. It seems OK from a desktop browser and when I've tried it this way the checksums of the downloaded packages dis match those of Play store packa...

Re: Gapless playback on Archos 48 Internet Tablet (500 GB)

Android's own media playback framework doesn't support gapless until much later versions (Jelly Bean I think, which is Android 4.1) so built-in apps or apps which use the native audio playback framework can't play true gapless. However some third party apps will be able to play gapless because they ...

There's a useful deadbeef widget as well, it's a separate apk like the plug-ins.

Re: VLC Media Player

The failsafe option is to decode to wav but if it's a remote file and especially if it's someone else's remote file this may not be possible. m4a does seem to be an occasional weakness with Archos' media support: I noticed that some m4a files aren't recognised if accessed via upnp in the Archos file...

Re: VLC Media Player

Which device are you using VLC on? I've tried it on my gen8 A43IT. It didn't do a good job of hardware video decoding so was too slow and laggy to use for video. For audio I found deadbeef and rockbox more capable in several ways (variously bookmarking, gapless, custom eq, cover art, folder browsing...

Re: Archos does not keep up fw upgrades with new Android ver

You read some stuff that is simply wrong in several ways: Archos certainly does not have a reputation for upgrading its devices to new versions of Android, though it does do so occasionally (usually when that future upgrade has formed part of the marketing i.e. is effectively contractual). Archos te...

Re: replacement batterys archos 101

where can you buy spare batteries for Archos 101 G9? Archos wont fix it because 1 year is over . I send them copy where it says 2 yrs warranty for tablets so they apologized and said they will fix it. few months later -old dead unit was return to me. I filled complaint with BBB, wrote to headquarte...

Re: Play store can't get connection?

I had endless trouble with my ISP supplied router (a poor combo ADSL2+ Modem/router) which was so crappy it could only reliably support one wireless cient at a time, couldn't do port mapping, had a web UI locked down by the ISP with the intention of forcing customers to use ISP's own DNS etc etc so ...

Re: Play store can't get connection?

WPA2-PSK CCMP is fine on my A43IT (Froyo stock 2.4.83 rooted dual boots with CyanogenMod Gingerbread) and A28IT (stock Archos 2.4.83) on wireless N. I don't have Google Play on my tablets any more but I think you need to make sure background data and Auto-sync are both enabled so that Google can slu...

Your device has Google Play so use that. The Archos apps are available on Play. AppsLib is for older Archos devices that didn't comply with Google Play/Market requirements.

Well you definitely have a faulty disk. If the device isn't within the warranty period then maybe you can replace the disk yourself.

Re: Archos 48 I.T. Stops loading music

The two most likely causes are a bad connection/cable or disk corruption. I would try a different (known good) cable and also use a desktop or laptop to run a disk check - chkdsk on Windows, fsck on Linux/BSD/OS X. These devices are a few years old now and a hard disk in a portable could easily be a...

Yes, you can uninstall it.

If you need a similar utility again it's better to use arctools to install the Google suite of apps.

Re: Is the Archos Fans forum dead or dying?

I didn't misunderstand, I was drawing a contrast between your fanboyism (and fury) and my non-fanboy experience which clearly involves more realistic expectations and less emotional volatility. I don't need to get over anything because I don't have an emotional problem with products which work as de...

Re: Is the Archos Fans forum dead or dying?

Well cyberpunk.... I was never an Archos fanboy. I'm sure that makes a difference. If I got a firmware update that wasn't satisfactory (and there have been a few) I didn't have an emotional episode or claim Archos "wreak havoc". What I did was find a way to go back to earlier firmware versions until...

Re: Is the Archos Fans forum dead or dying?

Lots of companies stop doing firmware updates quite quickly. It's mistaken to think that Archos is unique in this, they are actually very normal. For example my Nokia phone lost online features (proprietary maps/navigation service) pretty much immediately on being end of line (and still available to...
