Need help switching on 43 Vision (weak on/off switch)

Hello, After about a year and a half of using the 43 Vision, I believe the on/off switch has become weak. Thus, after having to perform a "hard reset" (by sliding the switch in the opposite side of the on position), I am no longer able to switch on the player, because within the casing, the other si...

Re: First Impressions

Yes, that was pretty much my opinion when I purchased the player at Future Shop when it first came out end of last year (the serial number was 103XXXXXX). However, recently I had a chance to exchange my player during the new year. Archos 43 vision players with a later serial number (104XXXXXXX) have...

Re: SD card audio quality; flash/SD video playback

Aside from Kigo Video Converter, another free encoder I use is FFmpeg. Again, this is the Mac OS X version, so I don`t know how different it is from the Windows version. If you decide to try it, let me know for future reference.

Re: PROBLEM: Video playback - continous & chopping clips

Sorry, I don't believe there's any way to prevent chopping, nor continuous play. Regarding chopping, I noticed that certain videos files get chopped, but others aren't. Anyway, I lived with it, because 1 second isn't too bad. However, if you try to play a file bigger than 1 gb, the player is unable ...

Re: Transfering video from 504 to Vision 43

Some headphones may cause that problem because their jacks can't be fully inserted into the 43 vision's audio slot. In that case, try switching headphones.

Battery trouble with Archos 43 Vision

My Archos 43 Vision is less than a month old, but now I am having trouble charging it fully, whether it be via USB or wall charger. After 12 hours, the battery indicator indicates only 1 or 2 bars. Does anyone else have this problem? What should I do?

Re: Transfering video from 504 to Vision 43

Your 504 is better equipped to handle your videos than your 43 Vision. You have to reencode your videos to a lower quality file so that the Archos 43 Vision can handle them. You need to fiddle with video bit rate, screen resolution and frames per second when reencoding.

Re: How to remove battery?

Someone on this forum suggested pressing the on/off switch in the opposite direction (up instead of down). When you do so, you will feel the switch lock into that position. When you see the screen darken, the hard reset will have been reinitiated. Then you can power on as usual, for normal operation.

Re: TV-Out Problem with Archos 43 Vision

I pretty much had to reencode my avis so that they didn't choke when using the player. For videos, 768 kbps, screen res of 480 X 272 and 24 fps allows for as much picture quality and maximize memory capacity. However, if the result is a file 1 GB or bigger, the player is only able to play the file p...

Re: Learning curve problems?

Be careful if you have a big library of files that you want to place in order. If you want them in the Archos' 8GB in order, you will have to load them in the player one at a time. For example, you connect your player to the computer, click and drag the file to the player, disconnect the computer fr...

Re: TV-Out Problem with Archos 43 Vision

How is the image on the TV screen? Is the image flickering up and down? What are the specs of your video files? (frame rates per second, screen resolution, etc.)

Are you just playing files you downloaded from the internet, or did you have to reconvert/reencode them?

Re: SD card audio quality; flash/SD video playback

I can't speak for the windows version. I am using the Mac OS X version. However, it's still the trial version. Nevertheless, it pretty much has complete functionality without limitations. No watermarks, time limits, etc. Thus, the shareware is pretty much freeware. I don't understand why your 24 min...

Re: [Archos Vision 43] Pb with micro SDHC card, micro volume

Maybe the microsd card needs to be reformatted. Make sure you back up your data.

I am using a Sandisk MicrosD 16gb. Haven't had any problems with it yet.

Re: TV-Out Problem with Archos 43 Vision

Basically, I would fiddle with the screen resolution and frame rates per second of the video encoding menu when I reencode. For example, if the original fps was 23.976, I may change it to 29.976 when I reencode.

Re: SD card audio quality; flash/SD video playback

Yes. You need to keep in mind that the Archos 43 Vision is a rebranded chinese PMP that came out a few years ago. Therefore, the tech is older, and you can't expect this player to play hi def videos or music files properly without choking. The files will play herky-jerky and they may be some audio s...

Re: SD card audio quality; flash/SD video playback

Despite the fact that the 43 Vision`s main selling point is the fact that people only need to click and drag files to the player without reencoding or converting, I found that it is preferable to do so in order to get the most out of the player. In addition, you`ll maximize memory capacity. For vide...

Re: TV-Out Problem with Archos 43 Vision

Thanks for the reply.

I was also worried that if the cable and Archos are not to blame, then perhaps I need to reencode my videos so that their frame rates conform to NTSC rather than PAL.

Cheers,
Marcel

TV-Out Problem with Archos 43 Vision

Hello, Is it really necessary to purchase the video cable from Archos in order to use the TV-Out feature? Can I purchase a generic TV video cable with connectors to the video and audio jacks for the A43VB from another place (ex. Circuit City)? You see, when I tried using a video cable from a portabl...
