Re: Archos 101 Now Dead, RMA to Send Back going to Cost Heap
Well I recieved my unit back today. Its a used replacment in decent shape. This may be the last post I ever make with it as I have already replaced it with a different tablet. Wont mention what type, but will say the $100 difference in cost has been worth every dime. The 101 is a good tablet for the ...

Re: Archos 101 Now Dead, RMA to Send Back going to Cost Heap
My first RMA took forever. In fact I had to get a refund and get my replacement from another supplier after waiting nearly 2 months. This time around I am figuring it should be much faster as inventory should not be an issue. The first time around they were having difficulties keeping product due to ...

Re: Eee Pad Transformer
and by the way, when I stated "Archos is releasing Arnova 10 rk2918 capacitive in May for $199 or $229! Just saying.", I was being sarcastic. I figured I would also mention it in every post regardless of logic to see if Archos sends me any $ for the mention

Re: Eee Pad Transformer
Archos could have used capacitive 5" and 3G since Gen7 Android released in 2009, but if that ads $300 to the price it is stupid. (which is why nobody bought the Dell Streak)
Archos could have used a 1024x600 7" glass gorilla screen with 3G in Gen8, but if that increases the price to $799 ...

Re: Archos 101 Now Dead, RMA to Send Back going to Cost Heap
FYI Well we have reason to be concerned and/or cautious. I just got off the phone with creating an RMA and the tech support person instructed me that the backlight issue may NOT be covered under warranty, as screens are not included in the warranty. He did however say that this problem may not be ...

Re: Eee Pad Transformer
The Arnova series is a cheaper version of an already cheap Android tablet. Cheap in comparison with other tablets of the same size and feature set. I am not sure why they keep coming up in this discussion like a rolling billboard advertisement (unless of course that is the point. Maybe someone is ...

Harfainx,
I completely agree with your viewpoint. If it comes down to user preference when all things are intelligently considered, that's one thing; however, openly and continually disagreeing with someone for completely inane reasons when all they are doing is making valid statements which can be ...

Re: Eee Pad Transformer
I have never seen someone so utterly obstinate in the face of empirical fact. Although I agree the 101 is a great tablet for the price, there is simply no way it compares to either the Asus Eee Pad Transformer or the Acer Iconia A500 in either (overall) materials used, workmanship, or stability in ...

Re: new firmware 2.3.26 - report bugs here
Update: Well I guess I found my answer. My 101 backlight died rendering the display, thus the tablet, utterly useless. This will be my second RMA (first was for a different issue) and my last. I will more than likely be putting my replacement up for sale once received. I am not a hater, not a fanboy ...

Re: new firmware 2.3.26 - report bugs here
Dear Archos,
If you are reading these forums PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE provide a way that we can revert to 2.1.08. For 2 weeks now I have been trying to find a way to live with all the little glitches in this firmware, and my patience is wearing thin. My unit restarts on its own, video that worked ...

worst upgrade ever
1. more than 10 time in 2 days I found it stuck at startup screen, never came out without hard reset

Re: new firmware 2.3.26 - report bugs here
I wonder why there is such a variance in satisfaction with this firmware. I really wanted to be happy with it. Matter of fact, that's the direction I was originally heading in. Overall though, I believe there are enough complaints of the same issues that would merit Archos really reviewing this ...

Re: Error Reformatting My Archos 101 and now frozen (bricked
DeeJayCruiser, I see a couple of possibilities.
One: You had Urukdroid installed and although I never have, I assume it changes the kernel like this method does? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=930197. So I would use this method by flashing the kernel and initramfs files ...

Just to add, I don't think ES File Explorer or Astro can back up protected apps (TV.com, etc). You need root to do those.
Similar to Titanium Backup, I prefer MyBackup Pro.

Re: new firmware 2.3.26 - report bugs here
I know the kernel files for 2.3.20 and 2.3.26 are the same. 2.1.08 is different. I assuming reverting to .20 would be possible only because of this but I am not 100% sure.dougeeebear wrote:How did you manage that?old_pocket wrote:Went back from 2.3.26 to an older version (2.3.20)

Re: new firmware 2.3.26 - report bugs here
I'm really hoping that the reason the FW jumped from 2.1.08 to 2.3.xx is because of many underlying changes to upgrade to Gingerbread or Honeycomb! There are quite a few builds between those two, and I can be hopeful, right?

Re: new firmware 2.3.26 - report bugs here
Well it turns out after the positive post I made about upgrading to 2.3.26, things have changed significantly for me. I performed a clean install at the time and thought I was good to go. Wrong. About a day after, I started experiencing serious lag when trying to use applications. Any application ...
