Re: Archos RAM

Without splitting hairs here - please talk to anyone with a xoom, Transformer, A500, etc. and ask them how much free RAM they have after killing all running tasks - it will be approx. 360 - 500mb. It doesn't matter if Honeycomb SPECIFICALLY takes up that memory or not, but the fact is that Honeycomb...

Re: Archos RAM

Honeycomb tablets must have at LEAST 1GB ram in my opinion. Forget this 512mb nonsense. The OS takes up close to 500mb on it's own and most browsers will use up 60mb - 160mb with just a few tabs open. Put a few widgets and background services and you'll be begging for more RAM. My ipad 2 has 512mb a...

Re: Why my next tablet won't be Archos Gen 9

Those are valid points. The Gen 9 announcement got me all excited until I realized: - they won't be coming out until the end of the year (which means Tegra 3 tablets will will be everywhere and the processing speed of Gen9 won't mean much anymore). - no rear camera... bummer - still no word about r...

Re: Eee Pad Transformer

Does this place sell online? That is a great price, I might pick one up if I can get it online. It was Staples - they renovated and sent "valued customers" a 15% off coupon to be used on June 9th. I only regret not buying two Eee Pads... fyi: If you need a dock, there are a few Canadian dealers who...

Re: Eee Pad Transformer

Bought a 16GB EEE Pad yesterday for $340 CDN. I am VERY impressed with this tablet. It's going to my dear old mum as a birthday present on the 12th, so I've got it until then. I'm LOVING Honeycomb and am very excited about the new tablets that are sure to be coming out this summer and fall... :) Th...

Re: ASUS EEE Pad Transformer - "quick & dirty" review

Good Morning :) how is the audio out of the built in speakers.I have read reviews that it is not very good. I have the Gt P1000 at present and I could use more base but overall for tiny speakers they work well. Do they compare ? thanks for info Ok, I've had a chance to compare the a500 to the trans...

Re: Eee Pad Transformer

Thinking about it, if Archos just spent another 50$ on materials, workmanship, and software/hardware reliability, and sold their tablets for that much more, it would seem that they'd be in serious competition here in the States with the other tablets that we have to choose from. Because Archos pric...

Re: Eee Pad Transformer

May I ask how much an external, full-size keyboard with a trackpad would cost to add to an archos tablet? Oh, don't forget to add an extra battery, two USB ports and a full-size SD card slot... I've been using full a sized USB keyboard, mouse, USB hub since the Archos Gen7 released in 2009. Those c...

Re: Eee Pad Transformer

Yeah that proves $548 for an Asus Transformer based on technology anno June 2010 watch my video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDNB-2orhsg is highly, highly over-priced. Over-priced compared to WHAT? The Xoom? The Acer A500? These are are similarly spec'ed,but the ASUS has a much better IPS screen ...

Re: Eee Pad Transformer

I can't wait for gen9 to be released so we can see how it stacks up against the current crop of tablets. Speed counts for nothing if the device isn't stable, and my Archos 70 was not stable - it was frustrating to use on a daily basis and my ASUS tablet is a joy - 12+ hours a day of productive, stab...

Re: ASUS EEE Pad Transformer - "quick & dirty" review

Do you have the custom rom installed? If so, is it that much more better than the stock rom? It's my first venture into Android coming from iOS and wanted to see if it was worth flashing the stock rom or if I would even notice a difference since I have no Android/Honeycomb experience at all. Used t...

Re: Eee Pad Transformer

It won't run honeycomb well. You wish. Anyways, if you guys want to believe that your $550 investment in Asus Transformer Tegra2 device is a good one, go ahead, live in your Asus world. At least you are lucky Asus stopped working with Intel for that thing. We're having much better time here with Ge...

Re: Eee Pad Transformer

Arnova will run Honeycomb just as good as any Tegra2 device about 30% slower than a Dual-core Tegra2 If it's 30% slower with less RAM to keep apps live in, how are you comparing that it will run Honeycomb just as good? Plus that link does not show that it can run honeycomb just as well, just that t...

Re: Eee Pad Transformer

The Arnova line is HUGELY inferior to even the 70IT and 101IT. It's not even in the same class as the Xoom, Transformer, A500 tablets. I don't know why it's still being discussed as an alternative to a true Honeycomb tablet.

Re: Eee Pad Transformer

Charbax, perhaps you can help with specs on the arnova 10 as all internet sites are giving mixed information. http://archosfans.com/2011/04/14/arnova-10-capacitive-rk2918-to-be-released-in-may/ ARM Cortex-A8 1.2Ghz, means it's about 20% faster than Samsung Galaxy Tab, but it's still about 30% slowe...

Re: Eee Pad Transformer

If you want to compare value today, compare with Arnova 7 at likely $149 and Arnova 10 at likely $199, all of which likely get Honeycomb and can transform to laptop mode using any $10 USB or $20 Bluetooth keyboard. How is that 1upping when Transformer comes out barely 1 month before Archos announce...
