I have encountered the same results as racky has mentioned. Older FW, same version of Youtube app, no problems via BT tether.

Ditto here. Although I can't seem to manage to do it at will, although from time to time on large webpages it may certainly come in handy.

Re: Firmware 2.4.80 released - report bugs here

Hello, Install this firmware, it's the best today : http://update.archos.com/8/gen8/gen8_2.4.19/firmware_archos_android_gen8.aos And just to say, that all problems of batteries are not existing with this firmware, no root needed to downgrade. I've done : 2.4.65 --> lots of problems --> 2.4.80 --> s...

Re: Do you still use your gen 8?

Yes, daily. Reliable, solid device. I've gotten used to its quirks and workarounds for it, so predictability is key. Best thing I love about it: the form factor of the A7oIT is soooo slick, slim, lightweight. Thing that irks me most: wish it had at least double the RAM.

Yes, the A7o IT really is that light. I tote it around in my cargo pants pockets on a regular basis, people are amazed (especially iPad owners lugging those enormous anchors around).

Re: Home screen SLOW redraws or rotations - DEBUGGING with A

Free, now that is a step in the right direction. Let's assume I may find the same issue persists, how do I roll-back? Simple uninstall? Or do I need to do a full reset on the device to get the OEM launcher back?

Re: Home screen SLOW redraws or rotations - DEBUGGING with A

Do I get a full test drive without having to pay the money first? I would love to sort out if the same [kcryptd] behavior occurs before I commit the money.

Re: Home screen SLOW redraws or rotations - DEBUGGING with A

Interesting - the idea of having to shell out money for a replacement launcher, is somewhat beside the point, honestly. Especially if there are no guarantees that the behavior of [kcryptd] is any different under any launcher, free or not.

Re: Home screen SLOW redraws or rotations - DEBUGGING with A

So a few possibilities come to mind: 1) [kcryptd] is losing its mind from time to time and hogging cpu 2) [kcryptd] is doing precisely what it's designed to do, but the associated process making use of [kcryptd] to write to internal storage is has run amok, hogging cpu 3) [krcyptd] and the associate...

Re: Home screen SLOW redraws or rotations - DEBUGGING with A

Does that imply that for every app (on internal?? or system? or both) has a corresponding [kcryptd] process associated to it? If that's the case, I'll capture the PID of the [kcryptd] that's hogging the cpu. Not sure if the primitive "ps" command available on these android unit will let me see what ...

Home screen SLOW redraws or rotations - DEBUGGING with ADB

Hi all, I have an A70IT with the 2.4.19 firmware. I've created this topic to permit folks to submit ADB debug info that can help in nailing down the persistent issue that pops up on the home screen - the slow home screen icon redraws or slow rotations. Note that I've experienced this issue from the ...

Forum looks funny

Hey forum gurus, For some odd reason, starting today (9/21/2011) the forums fonts look odd in Firefox 6.0.2, windows platform. Sadly, if I use IE, all is well, but I'm not a fan of IE. No other web sites I visit with Firefox show any odd quirks such as the one I'm seeing on archosfans.com. Specifica...

Re: Firmware 2.4.19 released - report bugs here

Unhappily, my A70 is now worse after the 2.4.x update. I was happily on 2.1.8 and resisted all of the 2.3.x updates. I should have missed this on,e as well.  Screen refresh coming out of apps will give me a screen with background, but no apps or widgets. It may stay like this for 30 sec...

Re: Firmware 2.4.19 released - report bugs here

Did a full reinitialization to check if quirks will be resolved. Observations: - battery really doesn't get to 100% whether charging on stand by or while turned off - rotation/icons while on homescreen still sluggish at times (stock launcher) - angry birds still judders Generally, performance was t...

Re: Blackberry Tethering - SUCCESS

Thanks to previous posters who outlined the steps, I have had success with both archos 70 and 101 (not rooted, updated with latest firmware) tethered to Blackberry curve (AT&T) and it worked both in USA and Australia. I first pared them by bluetooth. Set the bluetooth properties on Blackberry to di...
