For sale: Archos 80 G9 Turbo with a flaky usb p/s connector
My 80G9 Turbo has acquired the common USB P/S connector problem. Sometimes it will charge if I wiggle the USB plug just so, and sometimes it will not. I have opened it up and decided that I simply do not have the soldering skills to fix this problem so I thought I would offer it here to see if someb...

GPS performance and using bluetooth
The gps on my g80 started working well after I turned off bluetooth.
I used to see a few satellites but never got a fix, now I see lots of birds and get quick fixes.
Worth a try if you have been having problems with your GPS.

Is Archos nearing death?
http://www.telecompaper.com/news/archos-revenues-fall-23-to-eur-50-million-in-q4--927103 and http://www.telecompaper.com/news/archos-to-slash-25-percent-of-jobs--906552 IMHO: Lousy product quality, lousy customer service and a ridiculously unfocussed range of products. I think that they are done.

Re: Does this thing accept a bluetooth keyboard?
I've seen random complaints and posts saying that it does not. Seems like it won't since it's not listed under accessories. Also seems like a company would actually post what works and doesn't with its products. I have Logitech BT keyboard that works quite well, but a cheap noname keyboard I own lo...

Yet another opportunity to brick your tablet with no chance of return to an earlier, working version of the firmware.

Re: Firmware 4.0.25 Live - Report Bugs!
I wonder if Archos has outsourced their firmware development to a contract firm who really don't care what happens to Archos products as long as they get paid.
It has been said that Archos only has 200 employees - not really enough to do more than Marketing and contract management.

Re: Firmware 4.0.25 Live - Report Bugs!
This firmware update has destroyed the functionality of my machine! I have an Archos 101G9 250GB HDD and the damn thing doesn't work anymore. What I mean is that every ap... EVERY APP crashes or takes 20-25 minutes to load... before it crashes! It won't play media files like movies and music any lo...

Re: Difficulty Closing Tabs in Google Chrome
I have also found that quickly swiping down over a tab works to activate it more reliably than tapping the tab. Swiping down over the new tab does not seem to help, but there is a new tab menu item anyway.

Re: Firmware 4.0.25 Live - Report Bugs!
I am very reluctant to upgrade right now if it really is impossible to go back again so if anybody has tried downgrading to 3.2 and then up to 4.0.7 then please report the result here. Also, if anyone has a device on which the GPS never worked on earlier releases and does/does not work now on 4.0.25...

Re: Firmware 4.0.25 Live - Report Bugs!
A warning to those who want to try 4.0.25: There is no (official) way to downgrade back to 4.0.7 (which was possible from the 4.0.24)! Because of the HDMI-Bug in 4.0.2[4|5] (=much to low resolutions/wrong aspect ratios selected for non Full-HD-Devices), I wanted to switch back to 4.0.7 (exactly lik...

Re: Difficulty Closing Tabs in Google Chrome
Try rotating your tablet 180 degrees - have the camera on the right hand side. This seems to make it easier to use tabs in Chrome.

Re: Difficulty Closing Tabs in Google Chrome
Yes I have the same problem. I think that the top of the screen is not sensitive to touch and Chrome misses the the close tab tap. I doubt that it is a problem in Chrome, I think that it is more likely to be Archos’s problem.

Has anyone who installed this noticed any improvement in GPS performance?
In particular, anyone who never got a GPS position fix in 4.0.4, are you getting a fix now?
Here's hoping ....

Assuming that you have tried plugging the cable in both ways - the plug only goes in one way - then take it back to Staples.

Re: LIVE! - Firmware Update (4.0.7) - Report Bugs
How can I get a replacement from Archos if I bought the tablet on an internet shop? Anyone can help me with this? I'm pretty sure the device is going to die soon. Re: LIVE! - Firmware Update (4.0.7) - Report Bugs
I bought the G9 Archos 101 Pc1148 8G OMAP 4430 ES.2.3 in January from http://www.mediaworld.it an online shop from Italy. How can I get my money back? I can't use the device since this ghost touches were present since day one. Then Archos said I should recover it and do the calibration... And for a...
