Re: ICS for asus TF101 today - want it for my g9 now.

I've had a Transformer TF-101 with the dock since July with no problems at all. Love the expanded ports and the physical keyboard (though do use the tablet by itself more often than not). ICS is nice - quite a bit different from HC - more so than I had anticipated. The most obvious changes are the d...

Re: Archos 43 WiFi?

I solved similar problems with sporadic wi-fi connectivity for my WP7 phone, iPhone, Dell Streak and other wi-fi enabled devices by upgrading to a better router. I had been using budget spec. G wi-fi routers from D-Link and suffered devices that wouldn't connect at all or would only connect if I reb...

Re: The difference between Resistive vs Capacitive Screen

I have devices with both (resistive and capactive) screen technologies and they both have their strengths and their weaknesses. My issue with the A43IT screen is not that it is resistive but rather that it was/is over senstive. I have, through trial and error, 3rd party keyboard, and FW updates, arr...

Re: Couldn't wait anymore so brought the Asus Transformer Pr

apparently there are issues with samsung tablets getting the ICS upgrade as the touchwiz interface uses too much memory. marcel The original 7" Galaxy Tab and the original Galaxy S phone (and carrier rebadged derivatives), yes. AFAICT, the second gen Galaxy Tab 10.1, 8.9, and 7.7 (not sure if I act...

Re: Firmware 2.4.81 released - report bugs here

I noticed this over the New Year's weekend - I charged the A43IT to 100%, unplugged it and left it with wi-fi enabled from Thursday to the following Wednesday while I was away. When I returned, the battery was still reporting 66%. Erm, would you expect this to be any different? The A43 has to get p...

Re: Archos 43 "Emergency Dialer"

Apparently, when you get your lockscreen combination correct a number of times (like 10, 15, 20? who's counting?) there's this little tab that says "Forgot Password?" and if you click it, you can see "Emergency Dialer" under. And it's pretty much a phone from then on. Does anyone know if it actuall...

Re: Firmware 2.4.81 released - report bugs here

Starting a few days after the move to .81, I noticed battery issues with my A70. If I leave it plugged in overnight the battery will be almost drained by morning (even though the power light is doing the green 'fully-charged' flash). If I leave it plugged in all day, it will drain the battery compl...

Not that this would be a surprising move, but I can't find any evidence of it - where did you hear this?

Re: Has the screen defect been eliminated in the G9 Turbo ra

OK - F was a bit of hyperbole on my part - it was early AM where I am when I wrote it and I was not in charitable mood. However, at most I'd givem the Gen 8 Archos offerings a C+. The A5 would get a B. I'm comparing the build quality on these things to iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4g, Dell Streak 5, Blackbe...

Re: Has the screen defect been eliminated in the G9 Turbo ra

Um thats the point right? Thats what makes the tablet good...the price Yes but does that mean cheaply made too? I think not. This has been a point of some debate around here - the balance between feature set and build quality. Archos gets an F on the latter for the gen 8 range (haven't seen a gen 9...

Re: Blackberry Playbook

The Playbook hardware (particularly the screen) wins by a landslide. However, there is no expansion slot to add storage to the Playbook and its future is up in the air as RIM seems determined to flush itself down the toilet. Having said that, rumours are afoot that the Playbook may be on sale next w...

Re: Firmware 2.4.81 released - report bugs here

I am still running 2.4.19. I don't see any great fixes, features, or other reasons to upgrade. Am I missing anything? In .65 there was fixes for compatibility with some apk. Like you, I was in .19. I have upgraded directly to .81 because .65 and .80 had some problems with battery, and now it works ...

heh, heh - I'm starting to get rev'd up about the Sony Z series. These should make it north of the 49th and seem more interesting than the Galaxy players anyway (I have a Samsung Focus WP7 phone already).

Re: Do you still use your gen 8?

The funny part with the Playbook is that BlackBerry made 485 million $ loss on it. I Bet that the R&D costs for Archos Gen8, Gen9 and Arnova G2 are lower then that. If BB will make more products like the Playbook, they will not be able to survive. 8) There's nothing wrong with the playbook. RIM's p...

Re: Blackberry Playbook

Yes, sadly, too, the OS update to v.2, which will bring native email, calender, and contacts, isn't expected out before February 2012. This is a shame... I paid $299 for my 16GB version. It's on sale this week (and last) for $199 ($299 for 32GB and $399 for 64GB). I think that if they had released t...

Re: Few questions about 43

Hi Joe,

The 43IT has a microUSB port and will accept up to a 32GB microSD card. I've no idea about the current supplied by the microUSB port, though. I am able to read a regular USB thumbdrive using an adaptor, if that helps.

The location mentioned in the thread's subject. Ha, ha! OK - you got me  I wish they'd start shipping these things to the hinterland north of the 49th...
