Re: fed up with firmware 2.1.4 ... its about time for an upd

Anyone else noticing reboots while the devices is asleep?

If I boot up my 101 and then sleep it, about 20-30 minutes (haven't timed it) it reboots itself.

Re: My 101 Is On Ebay, Heres Why...

With all the tablets due out this year, I think the OP will easily be able to find all the things he wants in a tablet. .... except a low price! He's in for some sticker shock! Personally, the A101 is fine for me, and will tide me over until higher end tablets are available. I'm even thinking that a...

Re: ARCHOS101 cannot detect External HD or Thumbdrive

I updated a little while ago, and prior to that the unit was no longer working with a USB thumbdrive. When I plugged the drive in, it would light up for a second then go off. After the update, same thing. I'm going to try a quick shut down and reboot and see...... and nope. Still does the same thing...

The Archos 9 is not an 8th gen device... you're in the wrong subforum.

Re: Did I stumble onto something good?

You have some numbers wrong up there. The Archos charger for example: Input voltage/current 100-240V - 50/60Hz 0.4a that's 100-240 Volts at 50 or 60 Hertz, 0.4 Amps of current. The output is 5 Volts, 2 Amps Which works out to 10 watts. If the connector on the Energizer charger fits, and is the corre...

Re: Strange Sleep Mode behaviour of Archos 101 and 70

Is there a way to tell the device to deep sleep whenever you touch the power off button (I'm guessing it's just normal sleep by default?) Cheers None that I've found. Perhaps someone could whip up a widget or something that will do it. How do you disable the screen time-out? In screen settings I on...

Re: Strange Sleep Mode behaviour of Archos 101 and 70

I've disabled the screen timeout, and used the device as I normally would while I'm at home today since I don't work on Monday. It appears to function as expected - when the device is slept, it will wake up when the power button is hit. I'm going to continue to use it this way and see how it does. I...

Not exactly what you are asking for, but setting it to "agressive" will make it close apps that are not needed faster than the default setting.

Spare Parts has a setting for that, too. Well, it's an OS setting, but Spare Parts just gives you access to it.

Re: Strange Sleep Mode behaviour of Archos 101 and 70

My observations with my A101 are similar, however I have not put the device into the soft sleep and then carried it around with me. It's to the point where it will not wake up from soft sleep more often than it will, so I usually just power it off. Deep sleep, in my case, has also resulted in the de...

Hard links or symbolic links. The file really only does exist in one place, but there are pointers to it in multiple directories.

Re: Multimedia Library Update observations

Funny thing is, I already slapped a .nomedia file in any of the directories containing anything I've copied over to the device.

I have noticed that the scan goes very quickly after I install a new app.

Re: Anyone figure whats up with some USB ports after update.

Is it running that multimedia update scan thing? That's probably why it won't recognize or mount USB storage.

IIRC, mine won't let you do anything with storage while it's doing that stupid scan... which it does every time it boots, and it takes 20 minutes or more.

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread, 3.0 Honeycomb rumors and facts

Gingerbread runs way better and smoother than Froyo on 256 Meg, I have a cooked ROM on my Droid to test and it is wonderful. So memory wise it is not an issue. The issue as it still stands now with the Archos Gen8 devices is the ridiculously low /data partition of 300 meg which can be and NEEDS to ...

Multimedia Library Update observations

We've all seen that when our Archos Gen8 units boot up, it runs a 'Updating multimedia library'. This cannot be stopped and cannot be prevented (so far that I've found). On my A101 (8GB with 16GB MicroSD card) with maybe 1GB worth of music and a few GB worth of video, this scan can take 20 minutes o...

Re: Some hints to make your Archos Tablet WAY faster / smoot

Using Zeam now. Very responsive and lightweight. Only issue I see is on boot (and sometimes hitting home from an application) is that the screen is moved a little to the left - about the same distance as the soft buttons. A slight flick to the right lines it back up. Zeam probably just doesn't know ...
