Re: Froyo 2.2.1 Available! Tell All your thoughts onced upda
I had the Archos 70 with 2.1 and returned it, because when playing 720p mkv (AC3 5.1) through HDMI sometimes in scenes with much action there was a sort of stuttering and then often the audio came out of sync. Is this solved completly with Froyo 2.2?

At the moment it can't do this, evilPERSON2009.
I sent my Archos back today (was the last day it was possible to return it).
I had and still have several Android devices. On all it was possible to get permanent root after a short period of time and on all (leaked) preliminary Froyo versions were ...

There's not even a way to root the Archos 101 or Archos 70 yet.

Re: [WIP] Rooting the Archos 70
I don't understand why manufacturers making it difficult to get root. No root is a reason to not buy a device for me.
No root and no Froyo (beta) yet, I return my Archos 70 today (if i do not return it today, i have to keep it and at the moment it's not good enough in my opinion)
FAIL.

I can't understand anything on the website, because I speak no french.
But it would be realllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllly nice if you could share the Beta Froyo with us!

Re: I have been testing secret Froyo 2.2 firmware for a week
I will also return my device if there is no Froyo (Beta) Release next week.
The motivation is imo easy to understand: The device isn't running satisfying at the moment. If I see no signs of enhancement, I will return the device during the period i'm able to return it. I think best would be if the ...

Re: [WIP] Rooting the Archos 70
Ok.. so some progress. I was able to get root using SuperOneClick http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682 . Once rooted, I can mess with the mount points, but I'm not entirely sure how they are mounting /system, so I haven't been able to install su yet to allow apps to run as root ...

No one that can leak the beta 2.2 FW? Is Charbax the only one that already has it?

Re: [WIP] Rooting the Archos 70
If someone can tell me how i must modify the mount command, i would try. adb is working, adb remount did not work.
Output of "mount": $ mount
mount
rootfs on / type rootfs (rw)
/dev/mmcblk0p2 on /mnt/system type ext3 (rw,noexec,noatime,errors=continue,data=ordered)
/dev/loop0 on / type squashfs (ro ...

Yes, i'm form germany. But i have the Archos 70 (ordered in amazon.de marketplace by Olano) not the Archos 101. So no 10" screen...
The Archos 101 was not available in one of the Saturn stores near me, so unfortunatelly i had not the opportunity to have a look at it.

Re: I have been testing secret Froyo 2.2 firmware for a week
Don't get me wrong but i prefer a 2.2 that's solid as rock in 20 days instead of one I get today that is trash.
I would prefer to get a not 100% perfect version today and the rock solid, 100% perfect one in 20 days :)
I have the Tab the 3rd day now and the lags are annoying... And: No root ...

Is the Froyo Beta already leaked anywhere or does only Charbax have it and is not allowed to give it to someone else?

I installed the GApps4Archos from the link above. Unfortunatelly some Apps are missing (protected?), e.g. Angry Birds. Is there a hack for displaying all apps? (because we got no root yet probably not)

Re: [WIP] Rooting the Archos 70
I got a working ADB using this trick and the drivers from the Android SDK. Unfortunatelly SuperOneClickRoot does not work at all.
I got my device today und just realized that there is no working root yet... I never used any Android Device longer than a few hours without root until now...
