Re: Archos RAM

While i don't disagree with lot of your points, you have nothing to back up these claims. 512mb of RAM may be plenty for a reasonable amount of muti tasking. Just because i can have 10 applications running at once on my transformer, doesn't mean i need to. Plus we may be talking about $300 tablets....

Re: Archos G9 101 VS. Asus EEE Pad Transformer

Ive allready seen the video with viewing angles - but it still does not say which display type is used or how the PQ of the screen are, a youtube video cannot properly show that. There are also no videos yet comparing the screen PQ to other good screens like the transformers or the galaxy's or the i...

Re: Archos G9 101 VS. Asus EEE Pad Transformer

One information I havent been able to find about the Archos is the display type used I dont understand why more people are not asking about this - especially when making comparisons to other devices like the Asus transformer which use a beautifull IPS display. If the Gen 9 series use the same subpar...

Re: Archos RAM

Beleive me, it do make a world of difference If the Archos gen 9 do not come with 1gb ram - I will not buy it, period. Every other real competitor's tablet will have 1gb with very few exceptions 512mb is fine for a phone running froyo, but for a tablet running HC its a different ballgame where multi...

Re: Replacement Launchers very slow to reload homescreens

Actually this Android setting is not specifically for the stock launcher, its a system property setting for any launcher which is set as default. Yes, some replacement launchers have their own workarounds and even settings of their own to keep the launcher in memory, but in my experience these dont ...

Re: Replacement Launchers very slow to reload homescreens

its not an Android issue, its an Archos issue caused by 2 things 1. not enough ram - 256mb is simply not enough for a tablet with the demands for applications running on it today. 2. wrong programing of Archos. Google specifically recommends a setting for low memory devices to keep the launcher in m...

Re: What should Archos prioritise for the next F/W update?

If they can Archos should eliminate the very very slow (read 10s of seconds) delay sometimes in restoring icons when returning to a Home Screen. Allen I thought this was a memory issue, like the Archos flushes the home app out of memory, which causes the launcher to have to reopen and reload all ic...

Re: Choppy video after 30 sec. when playing 720p MKV over Wi

speed isnt fine, I have never been able to get more than 5.5Mbps actual throughput on the Archos wifi
Thats noway near enough for streaming 720p mkv files where the variable bitrate can peak up to 30Mbps or even more in some.

Re: Cinema plugin causing problems with videos

And I swear I watched a full episode, but oh well. Thats very possible, just because this particular file is encoded like this doesnt mean all files in an episode is encoded the same way. If you still have files from the episode you watched you can check them with the software mediainfo to see whic...

Re: Firmware 2.1.04 released - report bugs here

youre mixing up ram and app space - these are not the same. The storage space for apps has nothing todo with RAM the app space are not taken from ram, but from the same systempartition on the permanent storage as the swap the new swap space will be taken from the same systempartition on the permanen...

Re: Cinema plugin causing problems with videos

no gen8's cant play it either - it is exactly as said before, the blocks are caused by the decoders framebuffer not being able to keep up with the number of ref.frames in the encoded video. It is not a matter of not playing 720p on the device and its not "too high quality" it is just a bad encoding ...
