Its definately a bug, IF EVERYONE HAS IT. ;)
That doesn't mean that if some people don't have it, it's not a bug. If many people have it, it's probably still a bug.
If someone reports a problem, then another person does not have the same problem, then it is not a firmware bug!

Re: new firmware 2.3.26 - report bugs here
I sincerely hope no one disbelieves that statement. You can quibble with timing and the content of updates but I really really doubt there will NOT be an update.
Of course there will be updates. Will those updates fix the problems? We'll have to wait and see.

Re: new firmware 2.3.26 - report bugs here
Just a thought...
I'm thinking that if you purchase a new archos gen 8 tablet today, it's going to update itself to the ota 2.3.26 as soon as the wifi is connected, not 2.1.08.
Is my thinking correct?
Yeah. The update app only updates to the most recent version, I'm pretty sure.

Re: new firmware 2.3.26 - report bugs here
Well, since resetting my A101, it seems all the problems have disappeared, but it didn't happen right away. I was still have majorly slow charging, and not charging all the way to 100%, but after a few dozen discharges and recharges, that seems to have stopped.

Re: new firmware 2.3.26 - report bugs here
This usually involves changing the screen orientation. When I googled "android screen orientation crash" I found many other common factors related to screen orientation crashing. Has anyone looked at the screen orientation changes as a factor in the crash/loop behavior?

Re: new firmware 2.3.26 - report bugs here
I think we should all submit support tickets for all the problems we're having.
I've already submitted a ticket for the slow charging that I recently started having, and will probably submit one for the bootloops, if they continue (I just reset the device, so I'm waiting to see what it'll do).

3. Charging up to 94% only instead of 100%. Battery looks to be draining quite fast as well.
That's better than the 29% mine capped at last night, or the 9% it seems to be stuck at now.
I couldn't watch any TV shows on the train this morning like I usually do because of a low battery.

Re: new firmware 2.3.26 - report bugs here
I've been having a crapload of problems since my initial problems. The battery seems to report it's charge level inconsistently. I've seen it go up to 35%, then in half a second, drop to 1%, then jump up to 20%. I've seen it stop charging at 35%, then after a reboot, it'll be at 20%, but charge up ...

Can you imagine if everytime there was an ipad update you had to whipe you're deivce? ;-)

Question for Archos employees. Is Archos attempting to get Netflix as an app?

Re: new firmware 2.3.26 - report bugs here
I installed the update and things seemed faster and smoother (and I love that the AC3 codec is built in).
Ooh! Me too. I used to transcode the audio in all of my videos that had ac3 to aac. Now I don't need to. Very nice.
Everything was great until I found it stuck in a boot loop this morning ...

Since the upgrade, my tablet has started to reboot itself randomly. Not only will it reboot, it'll get stuck in a loop. It will reboot, and as soon as it gets to home (I use Zeam), it'll reboot again.

Btw, I've also tried direct ipkall->Sip2Sip solution in the past, but I believe they used UDP port (much faster time out) which will use more battery life.

If your 101 completely locks up (screen is grey with slight brightness to it; power button does not work):
- Insert the charging cable.
- Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds or until the device shuts down completely
- Press power to re-start device and all should be good
