A70-8 still plugging along
Just wanted to say that my A70-8 is still going strong. I don't use it as much since I got a Samsung Galaxy 7 Plus but I use it every week or so. I put Urukdroid on it about a year ago which allowed a slight overclock. It is stable but the speed difference to the Samsung is very noticeable. I still ...

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread, 3.0 Honeycomb rumors and facts
I just got a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 Plus with Honeycomb. My A70-8 is just too annoying with its little idiosyncrasies especially after using my work supplied iPad2. I'll keep it for a backup or let the cats play with it. Oh well. The Sammy works real well. More what I was expecting when I started this...

Re: Anyone think the archos 9 would be great with upgrades?
Unfortunately you cannot have features AND low price. I changed "reasonable" to "low" because it is too subjective. Someone might think a properly designed tablet at over $1K is perfectly "reasonable". I believe Acer sells such a tablet (maybe ASUS and others, too).

Re: Working with the SDE once installed
I only used SDE as a gateway to installing Urukdroid 1.6 on both my A70 & A32. They are running well and better than the last batch of OEM firmware updates.

Re: Archos 101 cannot connect to internet
Hi Jayne, It doesn't make sense that the market apps would connect but the Browser would not. Try installing Dolphin Mini browser [from your appslib market] and see if that works. Another option is to shut the device off completely then restart. Try to use a different wifi at a coffee shop to isolat...

Re: Problem with SDE installation
The 70b is reportedly different enough from the Gen 8 70IT that the firmwares are not compatible. Maybe SDE is not yet available for your squeaky-new tablet.

Re: overclocking UrukDroid on Archos 70it
Thank you all. I had thought the OC module is kind of "overclockable" module that users have to set the actual speed after boot via config file or applications such as setcpu. But the fact is that the module is already overclocked so as to run at 1.1GHz by default. And unfortunately my cpu can't af...

Re: overclocking UrukDroid on Archos 70it
Yes, it is very easy followings Sauron's guide. You need a rooted file manager and a terminal app for pre testing. I found that using my Ubuntu box with a root file manager I could modify cpugovernor easier than on a half of a 7" screen. Besides, I could not save the modded file when working from th...

Re: UrukDroid 1.6
It did not "kill" the battery life. I haven't noticed a real difference. At least it shuts off now unlike the updates between 4.19 and 4.81. I can run tunein radio by the stock browser all day at work. The screen stays on all day. Its about drained after 8 hours. I had the tunein app which would wor...

Re: UrukDroid 1.6
Currently running Urukdroid 1.6RC7 on my A70-8 and it is running well. RC7 is about the same as the final version according to $aur0n. Have it OC to 1100000 with max_vsel=68. Running better that it ever has. Still no iPad but it works. Testing with Angry Birds is smooth. Flash playback is pretty goo...

Re: skype for archos 32 internet tablet
You can get Skype from the Android market. Not available from Appslib, though. I have Skype on my A32 for emergency backup during travel. It works OK but you need to use earbuds or headset. If you don't have the market, instuctions are availible on Archosfans.

Re: Archos 9 - Windows updates
You need to one thing at a time. First, make sure you have a reliable and fast connection to the internet. Next, update Windows Starter before attempting the upgrade to any other level. Select Windows update from the programs menu. This way you can see all the updates being attempted. You should be ...

Re: Archos 9, 32gb SSD version - advice
Hi and welcome to the forum. I have an Archos 9 that I purchased in October of 2010. It has the Atom 515 1.2 Ghz processor. I installed a 60GB SSD in an effort to make it run faster. I can not say that it really improved performance but it works well. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium so that I co...

Re: best case (uk)
I have a Tuff-Luv Veggie case for my A70. It provides all around protection for this device. I tried cheap and "meant for other brand" cases but this is the best one. It was designed for the A70 so all ports are accessible.

Re: Blackberry Playbook
I have too many tablets but I would get a 16 gig Playbook if I found it on a $99 deal. For the best experience though, the iPad and iOS can not be beat, as was mentioned previously. While expensive, I think its worth it after enduring the budget Android experiment. I still have a Blackberry for work...

Re: Having Big Problems Upgrading UrukDroid
I have no idea on your apps, however, I found that downloading the update file to a PC works. For me, I also found that the update would not occur if I transferred the file directly from the PC to the update folder on the Archos. What DID work was to copy the update file (for me it was 1.6RC4) to on...

Re: Archos 70 IT Bricked by Firmware update
Try plugging USB into the computer AND long press power button to see if that helps. Also do the same with the ac power adapter.
