@Nazo, I've been using Bose products for over 6 years now and I have never had ANY trouble with them.
All of the Bose products I own are well made and deliver great audio quality.
Low quality components? give me a link were I can see their building materials, because my bose stuff is pretty stirdy ...

OT: I have no low level cracking on mp3 or wma files.
What is the bit-rate of your mp3 files? 128kb and 256kb can be really poor quality sometimes, Make sure you have 320kb bit-rate on your mp3 files.

I love archos despite the defects.

I think you should aks Archos (or the third party seller) about this, because that slice of metal which came off can definitely not be the only problem.

If that piece is gone you should get the archos on while on the charger, if not there may be a bit more damaged then just that little slice of metal.
