Re: firmware 4.0.24 - report bugs

The only problem that's happening is an error message when the device boots. After a minute or two I get an error message "Unfortunately media center stopped working" or something likes this. I don't notice any problems after the message so I don't care for now... Anyone with the same issue? I am g...

Re: A5 500GB Locking Up

With the last firmware update Archos almost doubled the database size to 65K - see the post on the 1.9.34/2.0.45 update. I am running 1.9.34 and have 62187 titles in my music library.

Re: Archos 48 Bluetooth Music

When I have this happen on my A5A (which is quite often), I make sure that wifi is off, Bluetooth is on, then reboot the A5A. It works after that. I have never been able to use wifi and bluetooth at the same time, and have found that if wifi is ever turned on it messes up any future attempts to use ...

Re: GoneMAD Music Player [testers wanted]

I don't think that Archos used a short int to index music, as my library used to max out at 35K, not 32K. My theory was that they used available system memory during the scan, and when it ran out they ran out - the limit used to change with different firmware versions, too. it would be nice to find ...

Re: Playlist management, exporting IPOD playlists, music ala

I use MediaMonkey on my PC as my music library maintainer - I used to use iTunes and MediaMonkey can read iTunes exported playlists and convert them to m3u. It is also good at creating playlists from scratch - I think it will do everything you want. I sync my PC music to my A5A so that beyond the fi...

This is great ! I have to wait until tonight to try it, though. I thought Archos had given up on us.

Re: pairing archos to bluetooth earphone

I have successfully used two different bluetooth headphones with my A5A, but have found that wifi must be off. The sequence that works every time is : 1. Turn off wifi 2. Turn on bluetooth 3. Reboot the A5A I am always able to connect to the headphones, but if I don't follow this sequence I usually ...

Re: A70 250g Music library issue

Yes, Archos uses their own library for the Archos Media Player (that is assuming that the 70 is set up like the A5A).

Re: A70 250g Music library issue

I have this problem with my A5A, and have expounded on it at length in that forum. The 35000 number is for an A5A. First, it is not a Linux problem, it is a bug or design flaw in the Archos library software. The limit seems to change slightly based on how much memory is available - the A70 limit mig...

Re: AAC/MP4 Music Player...

Well, the only other thing I can think of is that all of my music is in subdirectories under the main Music directory, and I have selected Music under folder to scan.

It really should work - I'm stumped.

Re: Bluetooth headphones - connection problems

I have this problem with my Insignia (Best Buy house brand) bluetooth headphones. Many other people have reported it as well. One variation I have seen is where the A5A will say it is connected, but when music play is attempted the elapsed time will increment at double speed with no sound. I have no...

Re: Android 2.2, rumors, speculation and facts

sweetiepie : Most of what you quote are not bugs. You need to add "in my opinion" to your statement. In MY opinion, unlike yours, the three items I listed are most definitely bugs. As for the 35K limit in particular, I suggest that you start looking for something in the owners manual specifying that...

Re: Very slow looking through music

With the file browser, if you back out to do something else, the music stops. MortPlayer has many other features beyond using the file browser - a shuffle mode, for example.

Re: AAC/MP4 Music Player...

I didn't see you mention updating the Android Multimedia library as I mentioned earlier - it is separate from the Archos ARC library, and unless you do that Music won't see anything.

Re: Android 2.2, rumors, speculation and facts

That's extremely depressing if it is fully developed, as it still has many severe bugs : 1. 35K limit for ARC library 2. Random freezes and slowdowns with the latest firmware 3. Erratic bluetooth headphone operation Those are my top three - I would be satisfied with my A5A if they were fixed. Other ...

Re: Music Player

I was kind of wondering about getting a 250 GB 70, but this thread is worrisome - I own the A5A 500 GB now, have over 40K songs on it, and the Archos library picks up 35K of them, so these reports seem like a step backwards in the media player department.

Re: AAC/MP4 Music Player...

I'm not sure what is your problem - I have "In A Silent Way" in both AAC and MP3, and the Archos Media Player can play the AAC files from the library, proving it recognized them enough to index them, and will also play them when selected from hard drive mode. I could also play them from the stock An...

Re: Very slow looking through music

In Mortplayer you select music by file name, navigating directories just like you would select a file in any other non-Music application. It really isn't that bad if the file structure of your music is well organized. It's free, so you should give it a try. One other note - the Archos Media Center c...

Re: Very slow looking through music

Once you have the market hack installed go get MortPlayer. It saves your entire hard drive file structure on command (typically after you have added more music) so that later on when you are scrolling around to select music there are no delays reading directories. The drawback to MortPlayer is that ...
