Re: Linux on the Archos 9

Very good news!

I hadn't heard of the opengalax driver; how did you discover it? Wonder if it works for other distros.

Re: Linux on the Archos 9

Hi, I just managed to make the touchpad kind of work with the latest eGalaxTouch drivers on a lubuntu. The problem I have though is that the axis are switched (moving right moves the cursor up for example). The hardware mouse buttons work too. I added the evdev and uinput kernel modules in /etc/mod...

[EPILOGUE] Re: Linux on the Archos 9

Just providing some closure, in case anyone was still out there hoping for a solution. The Archos 9 was never 100% functional on Linux, but now the touchscreen cannot be made to work on any current Linux distribution. Obviously, without the touchscreen the 9 is a paperweight, so the issue may now be...

I'm awfully sorry, but there is no fix for this problem yet. Even our most experienced Linux tweakers are stumped. :(

The touchpad drivers need to be installed manually from eeti.

Good to know; thank you very much.

Does "everything" include the hardware buttons? Just wondering. :)

Re: STAY AWAY FROM ARCHOS 9!

Hi Papo, thanks a lot for the links - Would you suggest to update the BIOS? If so, what is the best way in your opinion? Regarding the other drivers, how new are they? Tnx again. Now, continuing with the saga, after total system recovery to its previous state, the touchscreen is responsive again, b...

Re: Archos 9 and Ubuntu !

Were you able to get the touchscreen working, in either Chrome or Android? Didn't even tried. Ubuntu just took too long to install and Chrome just felt too basic. I will give Android a try later on and post the results here. I tried it on my Acer mini and it was supper fast. By the way, Ubuntu Desk...

Re: Archos 9 and Ubuntu !

I like it okay, but it's not the same without the use of the hardware buttons. I agree. I tried Android as well. Android is fast, but it isn't ready for a laptop...at least not the version I tried. Google Chrome OS is ok, but it's just a large browser. I travel a lot, staying in hotels. In most cas...

Re: Linux on the Archos 9

I'm running ubuntu 10.04 Remix on my Archos 9. Works pretty well. I'm planning to install 10.10 shortly, and probably going to make an ISO of that 10.10 once it is stable enough. Or do you guys want the 'older 10.04' ? -Yves Were you able to get 10.10 to work? Most appear to have experienced seriou...
