@mjwiech

If you root your A5IT you will be able to send files from PC to Archos too, using the "Bluetooth File Transfer " app.

Re: HOWTO: Easy root for 1.7.XX or greater

For those using this method, and then going on to Shotokan's follow up method, download Better Terminal Emulator from the Market (if you haven't already). When you've finished devo's instructions, and before going onto Shotokan's instructions, open Better Terminal. Type cd /data/bin. Type ls (that's...

Re: Firmware 2.1.08 released - report bugs here

Ok, well that's confirmed it. I uninstalled the SDE and tried to install 2.0.71 over 2.1.08. I too got the the Failed (error 221) message. So it would seem that the only way to go back is to root your A101. At least we now know it's a remedy for those who are determined to go back. But it's naughty ...

Re: Firmware 2.1.08 released - report bugs here

Oh dear. I just went back to 2.1.08 because it works well for me - a bonus was that I didn't have to re-root. When I reinstalled 2.1.08 it picked up the root straightaway. Now I guess I'll have to remove the SDE altogether, and go back to complete stock setup to confirm.

Oh well. Watch this space.

Re: Firmware 2.1.08 released - report bugs here

Sorry. I just had to find out. So I just went from 2.1.08 to 2.0.71 by using the simple Recovery Menu method. Quite straightforward. No difference from any previous time I've done it. No trickery, just one step - Update Firmware - as usual. In the interests of full disclosure, i should say that my A...

@wdl1908

Thanks for the link. It offers Swype and gesture-type input too, in addition to dictation mode. It does work - I just bought it. It takes a bit of getting used to, but I think it's worth it.

No "Navigation keys" though. Hmm ...

Re: quality?

I don't think there's much to choose between the A5IT build quality, and that of the A101. The only difference I experience with the A101 is a slight "creakiness" in the body. But the sheer surface area, slimness, and the need for a central kickstand in the middle of the back, make that slight flexi...

Re: Low memory warning

So far, you've not mentioned the apps themselves. If you go into Applications, Manage applications, All, then Menu, Sort by size, can you account for the 300MB apps availability that way? The top few apps on my list are: Skype - 11.37MB Adobe Flash Player 10.1 - 11.28MB F1 Timing 2011 - 10.99MB Powe...

Re: external webcam for archos 101? is it possible?

+1.

I agree, it would be an awesome project to do, for somebody who had the interest, time, money, and knowledge to do it.

That lets me out, and Archos, and you, obviously, so who does that leave?

Nah, It can't be because of that. I only have like 10 apps install. Viking is spot-on on this one.
Eh?

You have 9.55MB left out of 300MB and don't expect to get a low memory warning?

Good luck with that.

Re: Archos 5 Internet Tablet: ThinkFree, Bluetooth, USB

3. It's funny that Archos has Bluetooth but file transfers do not work. I use BT mostly just for file transfers. What other uses I can have from such limited BT implementation? The ability to "tether" to a smartphone, and have access to the Internet wherever you are. The ability to connect to your ...

Yes, thanks Cameltoe. Could be very useful. Most people don't know this, but It's an MOT failure in the UK to have something on the windscreen, unless it's placed somewhere totally useless.

actually last time 2.1.4 also have some problem but i do not care much that time. So i don't think it is only problem with UrukDroid. And a quick Google search about same problem also direct back to our forum so i think it is Archos firmware itself's problem. I don't think it is the firmware, becau...
