Re: Apps for Archos 48 IT

Might try the Google Market 'hack'? It's been around for the A5IT for years:

Sticky at top of main forum page. Not sure if it works on the 43, but I'd be surprised if it didn't.

After two years, I retired my A5IT :( but bought a Samsung..

Bought a Samsung Galaxy Player 5 to replace my A5IT. Units are nearly identical in Height and Width, but depth, the Samsung is larger and curvy. Advantages of Samsung over the aging A5IT: Gingerbread 2.3.5 without any root/fw hack/mod Market works without android.process.vending error showing up all...

Re: Help with Anoa, can't start Donnut

sounds like something is wrong with your Donut image, but I'm no expert. I am wondering if you can re-flash your donut firmware, but I think you will have to redo the root tweaks. and redo the other images.

Anyone else have advice?

Re: So Android 2.2? Where's the best tutorial?

OpenAOS all the way. I did it, it took about an hour and a half. I used Ubuntu inside Windows (Oracle VM VirtualBox), It's all there on the OpenAOS website. You don't need to be a genius to do it, although you MUST follow each step carefully and type commands in a terminal. I'm not 100% jazzed about...

OT - Samsung Galaxy 5 WIFI, Archos Gen9

Hello fellow Archos users! I still use my 5IT almost daily, it has been a remarkable tech purchase for me thus far, nDrive is my #1 app with BackCountry Navigator being #2. Now that Archos is releasing a pretty beautiful 10" Gen9 tablet, wondering if there were chatter about a new 5" with GPS and ca...

Re: market4archos problem

Clear the cache. To do this, go to Settings, Applications scroll down until you see the Market and under options, there is a clear cache button. Once done, go back to Market. I'm told the new Market has issues and a lot of A5IT users somehow revert to the old Market. I believe you can uninstall Mark...

Re: Replacing touchscreen [Was: modifacations?]

I have another question about modding... I've just bought this device. I thinks is worth the price, but I'm very unsatisfied with the touchscreen... I'd rather have a capacitive touchscreen (androind works better with fingers imho), so I'm thinking on replacing it. Is it possible to do? No, unless ...

OMG... and LMFAO! =D> Have fun, yes, Copilot is probably the #1 GPS app for Archos 5 offline maps. I use nDrive, but it's not officially supported anymore. Oh, and IF GPS continues to work, I highly recommend the Archos GPS car kit, for some reason, I get locks much faster, probably due to...

no. please read the thread, it lists all the enhancements. Flash is not one of them, never will. Samsung's new Galaxy S 5 WIFI is highly capable... and $450 us I don't think many of us are holding our breath for an official Archos Froyo. Look at the OpenAOS website and help the developers, they are ...

Re: Tether

Wonder if you pay the tethering fee, if Verizon then allows Archos to tether. My VZW Blackberry has the additional $15 tethering plan and it works as a 3G modem with my laptop. I used to tether my Archos to the Blackberry until I upped the BB OS to version 6, which broke the BB and Archos pairing......

Re: ndrive 10?

I am using nDrive Version 10. Search this forum for my review, it's there somewhere. Please contact the nDrive folks directly and ask for an Archos version. There may be a licensing issue between them and Archos which prohibits them from releasing an Archos version. I did a beta test and worked with...

haha sephhi, I wrote that in the wiki! That was back when OS5 was working fine. I updated the wiki to reflect OS6 breaks tethering/pairing a couple days ago. I did some googling and found many, many complaints about OS6's BT stack... might be a bug that needs to be worked by RIM. There are so many u...

short lived Bluetooth Tether to Verizon Blackberry :(

So, I updated to OS6 on my Blackberry Bold. I love the new OS, very nice! Well, now I can no longer pair or tether to my Archos. I had so much fun tethered for the past two months, sitting at the pub and people gawking at my big 5" :) oh well...    so sad, I am almost in tears.....

Re: Accidentally formatted Archos, any recovery possible?

Best case from my answer is -BUMP- :) OK, I've never tried this, but if your data is still gone, you MAY be able to open the Archos up and remove the drive. Get a Linux PC, or I guess Win/Mac that has a proper EXT3 driver and run data recovery software on the disk. I used to use "GetDataBack Pro" fo...

Re: Blackberry Tether Success (Verizon)

BBear,

did you create a blackberry account for the App store, and have you tried that user name and password.

Also, poke generic forums for Verizon tether, it seems some people do not need a user name/password at all.

cheers
