Re: UPnP renderer on Angstrom (Archos 5 IMT)?

For now I did it, in the most retarded way... My HTPC is running XBMC (both for playing and sharing) and Windows Media Player playing to a loopback virtual card and VLC streaming from that card to Archos. I know my HTPC, which is Atom N330, is not going to thank me for the load, but at least it work...

Re: Anyone got working sound in Angstrom on A5 IMT?

I've got Archos 5 IMT, which does not have Android at all... And since I've got my Android phone, it is barely used. On the other hand, I need a new UPnP player in my house, so I thought I would put Archos to a good use. Archos itself can see UPnP shares, but does not report as renderer, so it canno...

Re: Anyone got working sound in Angstrom on A5 IMT?

Well, it seems it is nearly impossible to run Gstreamer on that hardware:

Anyone got working sound in Angstrom on A5 IMT?

I apologize for spawning too many topics, but I hoped more people would see this if I asked the question directly. Did anyone got sound working in Angstrom on A5 IMT outside MPlayer and Quasar? Using gstreamer in particular? I have fought with this setup for so long that it gets really frustrating t...

Re: UPnP renderer on Angstrom (Archos 5 IMT)?

I've almost did it... After many days of trial and error I've managed to install coherence on Archos with Angstrom. This means that I can see the files offered by coherence server and control the gstreamer player with any UPnP controller (including the one on my Android phone!). The only thing missi...

Re: Angstrom booting and other problems

I've made some progress, after all! It seems (although I cannot confirm it 100%) that it's "opkg upgrade" that kills the booting process. This basically rules out vlc (I cannot install it without upgrading some modules), but coherence is still viable... There is still a problem of not being able to ...

Re: Angstrom booting and other problems

Unfortunately, installing either coherence or vlc on any build makes it hang. The funny thing is, they can be installed properly and run quite well (although I was not able to do yet what I wanted) until the device is rebooted. Then it's game over and reinstall time. I guess that kills it for me. Un...

Angstrom booting and other problems

While trying to make Archos 5 IMT work as a upnp player, I have encountered several issues... First I tried the regular dualboot distribution. However, I could not install some of the packages I wanted to try out - e.g. coherence - due to lack of space. Then I moved to Spz0's Illume build, which is ...

Remote control for music playing on Archos 5 IMT?

Basically, I want to have Archos 5 IMT connected all the time to the dock and speakers as a music player. This setup I want to control with a web browser (and, ideally, Android phone). I've tried Subsonic and it works all the way until the music is supposed to play - I get dead silence (I suppose th...

UPnP renderer on Angstrom (Archos 5 IMT)?

Is it possible to install a UPnP renderer on Archos 5 IMT running Angstrom?

Basically, I would like to control music streamed from my XBMC HTPC to Archos 5 with my Android phone (Andromote or UPnPPlay)...

Re: What USB devices are compatible with 5 IMT minidock?

I have found it finally - previous searches did not give much (or they gave too much) as the word usb was omitted...

Seems it's storage and mouse/keyboard for the moment - I will keep an eye on the unofficial developments.

Re: Custom boot logo, fw, and other hacks collection site

I supposed the online script would be most idiot (like me) proof. You just upload the graphic file and you're done.

Some people (like me) when they see the words "may be bricked" in the instructions, suddenly becomely rather unwilling to try it out :)

What USB devices are compatible with 5 IMT minidock?

I haven't given much thought to the USB port on the minidock, as the manual states it is for transferring files from thumbdrives, cameras etc. Only after I read about connecting a mouse here in these forums I've realized that it could be used for much more... Therefore the question: what are USB dev...

Re: Custom boot logo, fw, and other hacks collection site

Just a thought...

Would it be possible to create an online script that would pack a custom logo with selected firmware into a new .aos file?

Several questions from a newbie Archos 5 user...

I've just got the device and I am quite happy, but of course, there are some issues, too... Most annoying thing: Unicode (Polish) characters are not rendered properly in the web browser. Excuse me? Is it 2010? A web browser without Unicode support??? What's strange, it does not look so much as encod...

Re: 2WAY REMOTE WITH ARCHOS 7 PLEASE PLEASE HELP

Unless you want very particular results with MCE, I would use one of the existing control solutions... I have written about one - xPL protocol. There is a control app for MCE already: http://www.xplmonkey.com/mce.html All you have to do is to make Smartfox to send specifically formatted broadcasts o...

Re: 2WAY REMOTE WITH ARCHOS 7 PLEASE PLEASE HELP

This is very interesting, as I have ordered Archos 5 IMT exactly for that purpose! I am not skilled enough in flash, so I will use regular HTML (with button images, of course). I have also chosen a little bit different path, i.e. use of xPL protocol - when I get the server side working, I will be ab...
