Re: screen rotate

I think it need a supporting of framebuffer driver of Linux kernel. To enable rotation function of framebuffer driver for Archos5, you need pass a kernel argument "video=omap24xxxfb:rotation=0". But, it causes a kernel panic. I still have no idea what is happen. I am still working on this issue to ...

Re: installing custom kernel

Yeah, I simply used another initramfs now. Works now. Thanks!

Re: installing custom kernel

Does "initramfs.cpio.gz" and "initramfs_data.cpio.gz" mean the same? I just found "initramfs_data.cpio.gz" (only 134 Bytes) after bitbaking linux-omap-archos. I renamed it to "initramfs.cpio.gz" for the flasher to accept it. However after rebooting I just got immediately a white screen. So did I pro...

Re: installing custom kernel

Well, maybe you can point me to the respective location, I cant find infos about how to replace the kernel. On http://dev.openaos.org/wiki/Setting_up_OpenEmbedded it only describes how to recompile the Angstrom distribution WITHOUT kernel. And I only want to replace the kernel, not the rest.

installing custom kernel

I was finally able to bitbake a custom kernel for Archos 5 (├àngstr├Âm). How can I install the kernel on the Archos 5? I guess simply installing the .ipk packages wont be sufficient, there is probably some flashing involved. Are there any informations how to do it?

uhm.... "random boot loader settings"? What do you mean with that?

Re: modifying bootargs

Does anybody know how to modify the bootargs (kernel parameters) on the Archos5/7 Angstrom edition? The bootargs are hard coded into the bootloader, right? Yes but I think they can be overwritten in the actual kernel config. You mean when recompiling the kernel? Well, if I recompile the kernel I ca...

modifying bootargs

Does anybody know how to modify the bootargs (kernel parameters) on the Archos5/7 Angstrom edition? The bootargs are hard coded into the bootloader, right? If modifying the bootargs is too hard, maybe replacing the kernel by my own one baken from OE is more simple. There is no signature check or som...

screen rotate

Has anybody managed to rotate the screen with Archos5 and angstrom? I just looked at the source code of the omapfb xorg driver, it doesn't provide any rotate parameter (just "AccelMethod" and "fb") and there is also no support for RandR calls. There is however a "rotate" member in ScrnInfoPtr, so ma...

Re: libc dilemma

I just grabbed OE with git 2 days ago, and PREFERRED_VERSION_glibc was definitely set to "2.9", the comment above it was still saying "2.6.1" though, so probably it has been changed recently. But whatever, it works now.

Re: libc dilemma

Setting PREFERRED_VERSION_glibc ?= "2.6.1" did the trick! I actually used that macro and set it to PREFERRED_VERSION_glibc ?= "2.6" before, but I got the mentioned error message that no matching glibc version could be found and then OE fell back to the youngest glibc version instead. Seems specifyin...

libc dilemma

I tried to bitbake some arbitrary simple C app (e.g. nano) with openembedded for the Archos 5 angstrom distro, the build succeeded but I cannot install the resulting .ipk package with gpe-package, because the resulting .ipk package has a dependency to libc >=2.9, whereas the official angstrom firmwa...

Re: swap file on ├àngstr├Âm

My Archos shows just 2MB available RAM. That's definitely not sufficient to compile more complex code. Do you guys all cross compile on a host instead?

swap file on ├àngstr├Âm

Since available RAM is a bit small, I just tried to enable paging with a swapfile, but swapon fails: [email protected]:~# swapon /mnt_data/swapfile swapon: /mnt_data/swapfile: Function not implemented What is the reason? Is simply the kernel not compiled with paging support? Or does even the processor no...
