Re: webacam possibly??Could i be able to put one one the A5A IT

But surely the pointing to one device or another should be handled by an intermediary "variable" like "LocationManager". Then ALL well written applications merely use that same variable, leaving the variable to be written to at the OS level (or similar "hack"), stack handler, protocol(s) etc. That's...

Re: Wifi "Dropped" connections.

and I don't think anybody needs to be pointed to a Wiki to learn how to use the power button normally. If you read (and possibly follow the link) you will clearly see that is not why the forum user was "pointed to [the] wiki." I was simply giving them an option to consider, since they said " becaus...

I take it you've abandoned your same question in the "Report Bugs" thread - posted yesterday?

Great start dave. Thanks for doing the work. There's nothing better, for helping you to understand something, than to have to explain it to someone else. Providing, of course, that you test what you're saying by trying it yourself first. That way you get full benefit.

Re: Confusion: The best threads previous Stickies Re Market Hack

_ Hi dave. I'm not exactly sure in what sense you're using the word "canonical" do you mean, a bullet point, step by step approach, as in: 1 - do this 2 - do something else 3 - do the other A "rules" based approach? ?? Rather than my kind of "essay-based" approach where I explain why, how, and what?...

Re: If you had the chance to go back, would you?

Another "would not return it" here. Forums searching showed its problems before we bought it and past experience with an archos device that too was sort of first-of-its-kind (I mean not the same OS as before) made us fully aware that it would not be flawless. By the way, does anyone really buy such...

Re: Stability vs Bluetooth report

_ Interesting. Let us know the results of your trials. I've been using my GPS in the car, with the Archos connected to my car stereo via Bluetooth. I've been wondering if the bluetooth has been interfering with the GPS, whose performance has deteriorated over time. I really need to use some kind of ...

Re: Wifi "Dropped" connections.

_ To be totally honest - the fact that Powersave disable doesn't work doesn't bother me unduly. It's not a showstopper. I've not done comprehensive testing, but I HAVE downloaded some big files, big enough for the screen timeout to kick in. The downloads continued though. That's a more major kind of...

Re: Wifi "Dropped" connections.

_ Immediate apology - I should have put a smiley in there :( . What you say is right to the point. The "bug", if it is a bug, is not so much that 3rd party apps don't work because of Archos' code. It is that Archos' OWN utility "Powersave disable" doesn't work, because of their own code. I'd like to...

Doctor, doctor. My hand tingles when I sit on it. What should I do?

Don't sit on your hand.

[Or sit on someone else's hand instead]

Re: Wifi "Dropped" connections.

_ Some more observations... Using WeFi - Set app to stay connected ' Always ' I assume even during sleep mode. When device is powered up from sleep device has diconnected. However I get ' Obtaining IP address ' showing on Internet widget. Now 5IT never connects and I don't get the WiFi icon in the ...

Using WeFi - Set app to stay connected ' Always ' I assume even during sleep mode. When device is powered up from ...

Re: Wifi "Dropped" connections.

It's very frustrating while surfing when you have to wait to get your connection back , just because you have waited to long and the screen shuts off. Ok, I see I may have to start a new thread, to keep it on message. It's already going wrong. I'm trying to collect evidence of Powersave behaviours ...

Re: Firmware 1.7.96 released - Report Bugs Here

_ Yes - I've noticed this recently too - I'm on 1.7.95 (only), so it's not appeared with 1.7.96. The cynic in me wonders if this is deliberate on the part of Archos, to disguise the fact that their "trumpeted" Wireless N connectivity, never actually results in Wireless N speeds, only the 54Mb Wirele...
