Re: Odd Windows Problem with a 504 160GB

I took apart the archos side of my cable and just re situated it on the locating pins and this helped my problems with connecting and charging. I can't say I really fixed anything, but I guess it was loose in one way or another. Wait, you took apart the cable? What? He means, he took the two screws...

Re: simultaneous copy bad?

Yeah, all I know about a mac in that regard is that they use the HFS file system. I believe HFS acts like EXT3/4 in that it creates a bitmap of which blocks are free/used, and looks for a space big enough for the file that is to be written, thus eliminating fragmentation. NTFS and FAT files systems ...

that would not work.

The only thing I can see working is a router based content blocker.

Re: LOST WIDGETS

For the widgets to fuction on the Archos, the name should be (widget name).zip. when downloading widgets from Opera's website, you should just delete the ".wgt" extension and replace it with ".zip".

Example:
"Calendar.wgt" would need to be renamed "Calendar.zip"

Re: simultaneous copy bad?

I believe Windows (And other OS's) transfers the whole file before it starts on another file to be transfered. Though, if you are copying alot of files (~50 GB +) you might want to separate the transfer in to smaller batches, as the Archos might shut off due to a low battery. (A standard USB port on...

Re: Connecting to Starbucks WiFi?!

This may be different but I am able tho get the same result with my notebook (running linux) if I don't type in the correct wep/wpa code, or authenticate the connection. On my notebook, in order to connect to my college's WiFi. I would have to connect to the router, open a web browser, and log in wi...

Re: LOST WIDGETS

Have you moved the widgets you downloaded to the "Widgets" folder. Everything (even widgets) that you download on you Archos automatically goes to the "Downloads" folder. Therefore, in order for them to work, you would have to manually move the downloaded file/s to their proper folder. (ie. widgets ...

Re: windows 7 professional install

From what I remember from an old post, is that Ubuntu could "possibly" be installed, but the usability would be tossed out the window. If you are really interested in Ubuntu you could possibly try one of the sub-distros (Xubuntu and Lubuntu) that don't require a lot of resources. You'd be better of ...

They need to be put in the "Widgets" folder. (Making sure that they end with ".zip") Also the A7IMT can only start the widgets from the home screen.

You might get a speedier response in the Archos 7 Home Tablet section, this section doesn't get perused as often as the sections near the top.

I believe the most current rumor on the Archos phone is that they were/are waiting for at least two major providers to sign off on a contract, though the original specs IMHO have already been surpassed by the Motorola Droid X.

Nope, lithium type rechargeable batteries don't lose a their charge over time, constant/trickle charging is really only for NiCd and NiMH as they lose their charge relatively quickly. You'll probably come along many different opinions on how often you should charge your Archos. Mine is, charge it wh...

Re: Made Big Mistake, NEED HELP

Go to the repair disk option, and it will tell you to connect to a computer and "install" a firmware file. So when you get that prompt, connect it to a computer and transfer a firmware file to the Archos. When the transfer is complete, tap the power button. Notice: You wont have any wallpapers, the ...
