Re: Does it broadcast to FM?
I've been looking a little bit but haven't found yet whether it's able to broadcast RDS data. If anyone has a clue I'm interestested!

Re: FM RDS Radio
I confirm having problems with the FM radio too. Besides the poor stability of the application, the search function works strange. I am never sure whether it is searching or not, and the frequency display doesn't update.

Re: DVR Station - No video output
My apologies. In trying to verify the options, I was lazy. As my battery dock gets the same invitation message to switch to TV Out when I attach it, I used it instead of the DVR station. The Archos is intelligent enough only to offer the options available for the particular dock which is connected,...

Re: DVR Station - No video output
Ok, back to the saga. So we can forget the whole DVR Input arrangements, and just consider the DVR Output arrangements. DVR -> black cable, all plugs - to scart-> TV. That just leaves the DVR settings (TV Out on the Archos) and the TV settings for AV1 (your only scart socket). Let's just look at th...

Re: DVR Station - No video output
Thanks. Sorry for the apparent insult - I could have worded it better. What I was trying to say was, for the purpose of getting the thing working, separate the processes of testing of the input arrangements from the testing of the output arrangements, in your mind. No no I didn't take it as an insu...

Re: DVR Station - No video output
Lots of thoughts come to mind, but all are necessarly vague as I can't lay my hands on it. My first thought is that it's definitely time for a new TV - life's too short for a lot of faffing around. More practically, you should separate in your mind, INPUT from OUTPUT. In any case, Archos don't reco...

Re: DVR Station - No video output
Thanks again for your replies! It sounds like it could be a NTSC/PAL mismatch or maybe it's down to the cables. I dunno, it's a real voodoo issue. When I saw the black & white picture I thought of that, which is why I even tried NTSC, even though it doesn't make sense here (Europe). Actually it's Fr...

Re: DVR Station - No video output
Did that.. and I broke the left archos connector. No I'm kidding :-) I could put my hands on another tv. It displays the picture. Somehow it's good news as the dock is not faulty. But I don't get why it worked with that tv but doesn't anymore, while the digital tv decoder still does work. Nothing is...

Re: DVR Station - No video output
Hi Michael,
No unfortunately I have no other dock.
I've made additional tests. The input part works (I can watch TV on the archos). Using the input cable as output doesn't bring output to the tv (i don't know how it's cabled inside but thought it was worth trying).

DVR Station - No video output
Hi all, I've had my DVR station for 2 days but only tried it today, and it only worked once. Since then I have no video output anymore (and audio either). * My first try was by installing the archos on the station, the configuration wizard started, and I chose Composite and 4/3 (the tv is not a rece...

Re: fm transmitter
Understood. However I have been trying to figure out how to get the NDRIVE GPS functional, and to hear Mary I need to use the car audio system over my MP3 cable. So to listen to the radio at all I'd need to use the A5IT radio and the transmitter . If the car MP3 cable won't work as an aerial then I...

Re: Do you approve of...
Did archos block the poll so that it's a bit harder to count? :-)
I don't approve the lock of course! Not that I want to go back, but I want to be free to go back..

Re: SSH X forwarding from computer to A5IT
The SDE runs a version of linux with X, right? Yes it does. It should work, although it's not something i have tested. I tried the SDE before but it seemed to make the device get very hot so only tried once and removed it. I regularly need the gps (it works here) and the 5IT is kind of a survival k...

Re: SSH X forwarding from computer to A5IT
Allen, greenie: Thanks for the answers. I use to do this between 2 linux computers and didn't need to go into the details, so I must admit I ignored the mechanism, especially I didn't know the client needed his own X server. The SDE runs a version of linux with X, right? Actually I'd rather do this ...

Re: SSH X forwarding from computer to A5IT
Sorry, my question was probably not clear/detailed enough. Do you mean: 1. Using ssh on a PC to connect to the 5IT? 2. Using the 5IT as an X-windows Server? Allen Neither, I think. What I mean is using the 5IT as a client that connects to the server running on the computer. This is easy and I alread...

SSH X forwarding from computer to A5IT
Hi all,
Has anyone a clue if it's possible (and how to set it up) to connect to a server with ssh and X forwarding?

Re: where is the power cord?
While I can admit most manufacturers don't supply a mains power supply these days, I must agree with people who are disappointed with this. The fact Apple decided not to ship one does not make it a religion every manufacturer has to follow.. Archos engineers have certainly checked and noticed that t...

Re: 3d Acceleration
Merci McGregor, or is it Merde? I always get those two mixed up. Depends on what you mean to say... If you appreciated my translation, "merci" is more appropriate, while if you want to send me to hell "merde" is perfect (means sh*t but can be used as something like "f*ck off"..). Note for the mods:...
